IrishMist -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 6:15:04 PM)

I absolutly HATE the cold weather and the snow. Makes me wish I was back down south.
I love the fact that I am closer to family though.

LokisBrat -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 6:16:10 PM)

We live in a tiny town in the Midwestern Bible Belt, in southern Illinois.
I was raised here and Loki and I chose to raise the unmentionable here because it has a small town mentality.
Pros:  It's a great place to raise unmentionables, safe, quiet and relatively crime free.
Cons: It's insular and lacks employment and educational opportunities.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 6:19:49 PM)

I live in suburban Dallas/Ft. Worth..

What I love about it:
  • Reasonable housing prices and cost of living
  • Good winter weather
  • People are generally very nice
  • No earthquakes [:)] (moved here from Southern California)
  • Good employment opportunities

What I hate about it:
  • Tornados and hail
  • Bible Belt mentality
  • Not particularly scenic compared to other areas of the country (just My opinion)
  • Hot summers
  • Until this year, I could not even buy a friggin bottle of wine in the town where I live!  Thankfully, that's been fixed!

Overall, not a bad place to live.

I live in Vancouver, BC. (That's in Canada, although yes, I know there's a Vancouver, WA in the Old U.S of A.)

What's to love about Vancouver?

Mountains, old growth forest, ocean, manicured parks, all within 30 minutes of each other, ethnic restaurants of all kinds, a busy, active BDSM/Swinger's scene, and a nude beach...Throw in mild weather, and you have an outdoor playground for all seasons.

(We're home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, too! whoooot!)

Add to all this...The fact that in Canada, it is not illegal for women to go topless, for gay people to marry, or for adult events to include some good old-fashioned sex, or some hot dungeon action.

Gawd...what is not to love, I ask you!

Okay...the answer...the fact that it's such a great city so many people have moved here, and now traffic and parking are major headaches!

Oh well, we tried to keep it a secret as long as we could. LOL

Pavel -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 6:32:50 PM)

I live in Eastern Washington.

I'm rather fond of the small town thing (it's nice and simple, and given that it's a college town, most all the stuff here is oriented towards people my age anyways)

That said, I don't like it so much when it's at 3 degrees out.

Do you see the growth "ruining" Vancouver? If not now, in the near future?

No, not IMO anyway.  Vancouver has grown at a fairly proportional rate for a city of this size.  It's just as beautiful and friendly and enjoyable to live in as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago.

And hey, it's sunny today!  Whoa!

Level -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 6:49:36 PM)

lol CanadianGuy.......I'm glad to hear that....I intend to visit Vancouver one day, and I would hope that you folks never see your city ruined.

I'm not sure...

I guess I like to pretend that will never happen. I tend to be very optimistic but, yes, it's a worry. If only people would make more of an effort to leave their cars at home, it would help. At least with the parking/traffic.

You should definitely come and visit. And if you do, I'm always happy to show people around. Kinky folks especially.

I'm from Mansfield, Mass.

Love the long winters and short summers. Love living half way between Providence,RI and Boston, Ma. and just an hour or so from the beach or the Berkshires.

Hate the bad rap we get for being " cold" and  un hospitable.

                                          mbmbn

PS was raised outside Philly, and prefer it up here.

MHOO314 -> RE: Where you live (4/5/2006 7:17:48 PM)

Live in Raleigh--love the mountains to piedmont to seashore--love horse country

Hate--Not New Orleans ( which is where I am from)--lack cosmo, don't have the boy.
