I live in Eastern Kentucky, born and raised. I love the fall here, the changing colors of the leaves on the trees...beautiful!  I don't like the winters though..lol....too cold.....

ShiftedJewel -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 3:51:00 AM)

We live in the tiny town (City) of Liberty Indiana. I love the people, the surrounding scenery, the weather (ok, not real fond of the humidity in the summer). I love our old house and all of it's little quirks.

I can't think of anything I hate about it though.

LadyMorgynn -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 3:55:24 AM)

I live in Greensboro, N. Carolina.  I love the changing seasons.  I love all the eastern birds that come to the feeder on my balcony, and to wake up hearing them singing (yes, even at 4 a.m.... oh come on guys, the sun isn't even nearly up!).  I loved the 2 whole days that we had snow this winter... we only got 1 day last winter.  I love my local Stitch 'n Bitch group and all the friends I've made there who taught me to knit and crochet.  I really LOVE my big, beautiful 3-bedroom 2-bath apartment with its cathedral ceilings and fireplace and pantry and laundry room off the kitchen, and all for me! <blissful sigh>  I love all the yarn shops and appreciate all the Mexican restaurants that I did NOT expect to find, LOL!  I love the really huge alternative community here... lots of pagans, gays, TV's, BDSM folk, and so many of them out of the closet, it's amazing!  I love the Aqua Aerobics class at the Y :)  I love living only 3 miles from my mom, so we can go to the Y together and have lunch and go to Stitch 'n Bitch together a couple times a week.

I hate the humidity.  I hate that the nearest Romance Writers of America chapter is an hour and a half drive away.  I hate that there's no Stuart Anderson's.  I hate that we have tornado warnings.  I hate the humidity.  I hate that there's only 1 mall (we have 3 in Tucson).  I hate that there's no See's Candy.  I hate that there is only 1 used bookstore in this whole damned town.  I really, really hate that there's no ceramic shop... no, not one!  I hate that there's no Tandy Leather.  I hate that Scott's grave is 2,000 miles away in Tucson.  I hate the humidity.  I hate that I'm more than a day's drive from Disneyland.  I hate that none of the Middle Eastern or Indian stores carry Taj Mahal teabags or loose dates to buy by the pound.  I hate that the summer heat is not a dry heat, enfolding you in a loving embrace, rather like being wrapped in a warm tortilla :)  I hate that most of the trees are bare and dead-looking for 4-5 months of the year, and there's no snow to make them pretty.  I hate that the Y can't seem to regulate the temperature of the swimming pool, and even when they do, they keep the locker rooms freezing and one of these days I'll probably catch pneumonia.  I hate that none of the Gold's Gyms here have pools, so I have to belong to the stupid Y.   I don't like the lack of privacy that comes from living only 3 miles from my mom.

Oh, and I hate the humidity.

Y'all probably won't be surprised to learn that I'm moving back to Tucson this fall.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I don't really like anything about it anymore, I am sick of the place, and it really has very little to recommend it.

smilezz -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 6:13:14 AM)

I live in Mesa, Arizona.
What i love about being here:
I see the Superstition Mountains out my window everyday
I like the weather (even though it's bloody hot in the summer)
I love the Home that Master allows me to live in
I love the patio that i get to sit at every morning and listen to the birds sing
I love the vastness of the sky

What i hate about being here:
I have never lived in a place with pollution alerts and that you can actually see it
I get overwhelmed by all the people and the cars on the 60
I hate that there is not much of a community/neighborhood feeling..no one talks
   I miss four seasons
_______________________________________________________________

I came from a small town called Niles, Michigan...while it was not a perfect town, it had four seasons, people would walk down the street and say good moring/hello to you, i knew most everyone in the town, there may have been pollution..but not noticeable.  There were 2-4 lanes on a highway instead of 6-8.  I miss the small town feel.

Hope y'all have a great day!  Happy Thursday.

TyrAnasazi -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 6:23:15 AM)

West Palm Beach, Florida here.
Comming from growing up in Chicago, and 7 years Air Farce (no not a Freaudian slip) I miss the mountians of Denver, but compaired to Oklahoma this is heaven (hurricanes vs tornados and bombings heck yessss) I hate the fact that average person has a "New Yorker" attitude, but I love the weather... (why does everybody want to be blonde here?

Rayne58 -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 6:42:06 AM)

I live in Sydney Australia.......I hate the traffic[:'(] Driving here is a nightmare for me, I'm from the country and more than one lane going in the same direction freaks me out[:o]

The weather's a lot better than where I'm from in New Zealand - it's warmer in winter, no frosts (we live near the coast) and not nearly as much rain as I am used to. The summer heat can get a bit much though, over 40C I do not handle well[8|]

The impersonality of city life is very different for me too. Where I come from you know your neighbours and most all their business too - here we live in a building with 8 units in and I have no clue what our neighbours' names are even. I know them to nod hello to in the hall but that's all, and anyone else in the street? Forget it[8|]

LKP79 -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 6:45:12 AM)

Clio, MI.

Growing up in the middle of nowhere on a 20 acre farm, i like that it has everything within a couple minutes drive (gas stations, grocery stores, highway access) yet still retains that small town feel. In actuality, Clio has less than 3,000 people but seems larger because of the amenities.

What I hate.......traffic! Having the amenities and highway access means we have a large influx of people coming through. There's not nearly enough traffic lights, and turning left onto any road can be a long wait if you're in a hurry.

I've not lived here very long, only about 5 months, but it's much better than the city i left (Saginaw, MI) and the crime rate is low compared to the 9 murders Saginaw has already racked up for the year.

I am driving right by your house this weekend to go to Montreal with the bride.  I am going to leave you the politicians though.  Nothing good can come of a Conservative government.

Okay, I kind of stole this idea from fergus' thread on Jersey.....where do you live, what do you love/hate about it?

I live on the shoreline of Connecticut.  I love:
  • That i'm geographically close to those I love
  • That I can smell the ocean air in the summer time
  • That there are so many outdoor concerts in my area
  • That I'm a short (and fairly inexpensive) train ride away from NYC
I hate:
  • That the cost of living is so high here
  • The winters

Wish i had known that when we lived in North Vancouver for 2 yrs. Is there still that nude beach by UBC?

I heard there will be daily trains running from Seattle during the Games. That seems a lot smarter than waiting in line at the border. Hopefully we can get up there for a day.

Yes, Wreck Beach is still as popular as ever. I imagine people are already starting their nudie season down there. They seem to head down there as soon as the cherry blossoms and daffodils start bloomimg - brave souls.

If you come up in 2010, feel free to email me.

I too love Vancouver, BC.  But with everything there is balance, it is warm....but...wet,  sexually open...but this leads to pansexuals....try and find a furry chested, deep throated dom....

ROFL The men here are just too "citified" for ya, Dina, is that what you are trying to say? Calgary's pretty close...[sm=evil.gif]

Cin (loves cowboys, and citified tenderfoots - all good!)

i live in Washington State, near Seattle - love the beauty, all the lakes and forestry, diversity of climates - go east heading toward the desert, go west heading toward the shore. It's an incredible state for natural beauty. Hate the economy here - was the worst hit after 911 - only now beginning to recover.

Arpig -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 9:45:02 AM)

well driving right by Ottawa is always a good plan. You know it really sucks having all the rest of the country sending their assholes (oops, I meant politicians) here...keep them, we don't want them.
to paraphrase the imortal Mr. Youngman...Take the Prime Minister, please!

Arpig -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 9:47:24 AM)

You have no idea how tempting that idea is, however I think i will have to wait till my unmentionables are older, seeing them only once a year would be terrible, they are just about the only thing keeping me here.

Saratov -> RE: Where you live (4/6/2006 9:54:49 AM)
