Well actually there's a deep unease in the Irish Nationalist movement about spelling it craic instead of crack. The word is originally English (as in wisecrack) and it was borrowed into Irish so the spelling was Gaelicised, but it's often seen as a dilution to the language, or as pandering to tourists, to spell it craic.

Indeed. This is why one seldom reads of an Irishman referring to his arsecraic. The traditional Gaelic word for this, of course, is 'Orangeman'.

I've heard Scots say similar about kilts - these, a Jock of old acquaintance once told me, are an English import. Despite being a haggis-worrier all his life, he'd never worn one and vows never to wear one in the future, either.

i'm starting to regret not taking a trip to Ireland while I was in England for so long. It appears that I could have picked up loads of knowledge.

I actually had to Google "craic" to understand. Wiki says "crack" is another "acceptable" spelling of the word.

In any account, I'm going to try to prove a point by starting a poll asking if Kevin is "funny" in the way he thinks he is. I'm not sure that he truely understands how tiring and annoying he can be and I'm still not sure why most of us respond to him...I think it's because we have some shred of hope for his poor soul.

boi

"craic" gets an automatic spell check note in my browser..."wiki" does not. Huh.

But if you are selling a sexual service, which pro domination is, then it could well be considered as prostitution....

im neither nationalist nor unionist so i dont care. Pandering to tourists? Total crap. No one is interested in politics or sectarianism that breeds hate. i couldnt care less about a united Ireland in fact i dont want one, as it would it be more costly and the British are doing a great job of keeping the Northern Irish happy

You are right, we do have a shred of hope for Kevin. I, however, no longer have time for him. Therefore.... *click* Good luck, mate.
