Homophobia, bigotry and barely concealed racism all on the one thread.

Is there a point to this Popeye ?

Wow.  I thought that it was a joke making fun of rednecks.

Perhaps someone could point out the homophobia, bigotry, and racism to me.  (Okay, I will grant that the whole, 'He's a fucking queer' could be construed as homophobic, but really it looks more like a generational thing to me.  Or redneck.)

Bingo.
That's why I don't like to be around humorless people, you have to *explain* everything to them!

P.S. And then there's those pesky things called """""QUOTATION MARKS""""".
I wonder how many people see them and have no "idear" what they are?

Well, I have never claimed to have a sense of humor.  Only something that I use as one.

If you want I can deconstruct the joke and discuss the irony and whatnot.  However that would be explaining the joke.  Everyone knows that if you have to explain the joke it is no longer funny.

I am unsure of why so many things are considered "racist" anymore.  I was accused of it the other day.  I was working on a Toshiba R/F room and commented about the terminal strips and all the damn screws.  The tech asked me why they had them.  I said, "Well, because it is a Toshiba so it is Japanese."

The tech denounced me for a racist.

Ummm. . . I thought that we were talking plate tectonics.  Not race.  Ya know. ..  Japan. . . earthquakes.

Apparently race controls earthquakes or something.

What do they do?
Do they "organize" people to "think" a certain way?
Do they wake them up to be sure they're "at the protest on time?"
Ive never seen any around this "community."
By definition wouldn't they have to "organize" people in "poor" communities to think that if they act in a certain way that they'll get ..."more money" somehow?
And who "pays" the "community organizers?"

Interesting, and valid question.

Lets take an example. The Tea Party organizers are in charge of organizing the Tea Parties, selecting the appropriate messages, informing the crowd of what posters and words are acceptable, and which ones are not.

They do organize the groups to have the busses arrive on time, go to a certain location, etc.

Who pays these community organizers?

Even more interesting. Most of the tea Parties are organized by Freedom Works, which is headed by Dick Armey, who was a lobbyist for Wall Street banks and insurance companies through his firm, DL Piper. As to where exactly all the money comes from to pay for all those fancy busses, PA systems, banners, pamphlets and such- I haven't a clue.

Maybe now that Andrew O'Keefe is a free man, he can do some of that investamagative journalism thingy that he does so well.

As to your later comments about community organizers- Maybe Dick Armey is queer, I really don't know. He does have a name straight out of a gay porn movie, but that could just be coincidence.

"OK, Marines, I am your new squad leader, Major Dick Army- and I don't ask, and you won't tell!

Popeye I believe community organizations are people with good intentions that see a problem in their community and join together to try and rectify it. It may be simply a group of concerned citizens trying to help homeless veterans get back on their feet ...Or a group that feels their neighborhood is not being represented because of low voter registration and try to get people to register…. Or a group like the Tea Party that believe they are not being properly represented by either party and are trying to form a party that will represent their beliefs.

The problems arise when those with opposing political view points try to paint these organizations as subversive simply because they hold differing views.

All and all they are healthy and a necessary part of our free way of life. What else defines freedom better than the ability of a person or group to hold and publicly exclaim a different view than the majority.

Around here, there are a shitload of emails that go around, with long chains of discussion, and people drive themselves to the location. When bigger organization is needed, it mostly gets handled by the pissed-off, middle aged women who drive the movement.

You should be terrified by that, but I'm sure denial is easier.

With all the ignorant, condescending, bigoted insults about community organizers in this thread, does anybody seriously expect that anyone who's familiar with the topic would actually waste their time giving a serious answer to any of the so called "questions?" You guys want to have fun ridiculing something about which you have not got the first fucking clue, go ahead and have your fun. But at least have the balls to own up to what you're doing, and stop making yourselves look so gutless by pretending you're really asking serious questions.

Crowds of people pulsing with rage and talking about "taking back" the country worry me enormously. Not the most encouraging precedents on that front.

Middle aged white women bought those buses, painted them with all the logos, coordinated the myriad of local organizations, set up the websites, printed the publications, arranged the parade permits, obtained the liability insurance, handled and media relations with Griff Jenkins of Fox News?

Um, no.

But I am sure they drove themselves to the event, and staped the tea bags to their hats.

And I would bet money they were the ones who painted the "get your gummint hands offa my Medicare" signs.

And all those signs about Obama ramming his big....agenda down their throats? Definitely the product of middle aged women.

And closeted Republican men.

Which, ironically, brings us back to....Major Dick Armey!

Way to go. You are a Howie Carr activist.

Shall we go back and count all of the times you have mentioned his name in a thread?

Yep (well, chartered or leased the buses and approved the design for the vinyl wrap). What? You think they should be home, barefoot and pregnant? When did Democrats turn back into such sexist neanderthals?

I suppose you are referring to some specific event where you can "prove" it's all astroturf, though, right? Whatever. Your willful ignorance serves my goals nicely.

No. I won't bother. That "in reply to" feature (if you can call it a feature) is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen on any message board, and I won't waste time trying to accommodate it or work around it, even if it does only take a couple of keystrokes. Anybody who's been here for any length of time, and knows how it works, but still takes offense if they happen to see their name on the bottom of someone else's post is on their own as far as I'm concerned. If they want to take offense, they can just go right ahead and huff away.

But Panda sometimes it is confusing when you don't think the person is talking to you but you are not sure... I've been there a couple of times...my fault too.
