I said Obama's bill was more detrimental than Bush's... meaning Bush's was bad enough, this one is worse. I didn't support Bush's proposal, there fore I would not support one that went farther to cut Veterans benefits. No bashing on Obama, just heaping him in the same pile as Bush.

There's your one.

You want to criticize Obama because he is a Dem and President....that is what this is all about....That is it in a nutshell.

Nope I want to criticize this particular decision because I disagree with it. I know that's a difficult concept for you.

domiguy -> RE: BP Oil Spill : Who's Obama gonna call ? (6/4/2010 3:54:15 PM)

There is this one.....

http://www.collarchat.com/m_2513384/mpage_1/tm.htm

"Obama and his administration are proposing/suggesting that Military Veterans should have to tap into private insurance for service related injuries/illnesses. In other words, no longer get their healthcare paid for thru the VA.

This is from the same man who thinks we have a healthcare crisis and the whole system needs an overhaul.

So what does he do ? Lays a heavier financial burden on private carriers, which will mean a raise in rates and premiums. Making it tougher for veterans/military and private citizens.

He says our military men and women are one of his top priorities, yet he tosses them to the wolves. Do you really think businesses will hire Veterans and Reservists, knowing they will carry a huge finacial burden if they get hurt/wounded/injured while in uniform.

Way to go, Mr. President. keep screwing Main Street, you rememeber us, the ones you claimed to have's best interest at heart."

Did Obama toss them to the wolves???

Or this post.....

How this can be considered "uninherited" is beyond me. These bonuses were set up long before Obama became president, as was the initial AIG bailout which made no provisions to eliminate the bonuses.

Yes, the bonus's were set up, but the additional bail out money came from Obama and company. Geitner and Obama gave them more bailout money, asked Geitner's buddy to take over the reins at AIG for zero salary, made no stipulations on how that money was to be used.
He inherited it, cuz he gave them our money. You don't think they were aware there were bonus's lined up ? You don't find it odd that Geitner knew of the bonus's but didn't tell Obama for two or three days ? Obama said Geitner is the only man for this job. He hand picked him.  So yes, it is un inherited. The mess was made messier by this administration.

                         mbmbn

Where you claim the bailout was an "uninherited" mess.....

But here is the thread that seals the deal, takes the cake, proves the whole enchilada.... It cannot be disputed that there is something wrong with your thought process.

There might be some sort of help available for you. Electric shock treatments or perhaps some sort of a self imposed solitary confinement where over the passing of the years you might be able to exorcise those demons from your head....

This right here is a show stopper.....

These are words that in the history of CM have never been uttered before or since. It has got to be illegal somewhere

"popeye. You have a point."

Thommy you really need help with your quotey thing.

I do it on purpose so that my detractors, who have no rebuttle to one of my positions, will not be limited to correcting my spelling errors.[;)]

Who the heck would ever do a thing like that?

And it's "rebuttal," by the way!

Staggers back at this crushing blow and falls to the ground[:(] hoisted on my own pitard.

Aww, thanx real [:)]

I'm fine, don't get my knickers in a twist over MB insults.
Funny thing is: DG had to do a search for  any criticism of Bush I may have posted, when my OP criticizes him for Katrina. Made me chuckle.

As for your little Mod Spank... we all have had it happen. You are now officially " in the club ". lol

I was pretty surprised, too; I didn't think my post was *that* virulent. And thanks for the pat!

I don't know what Avatar boy can offer, but Costner? If he is against the spill, how can the spill prevail?

mb: I have contacted Costner, and with the President's blessing, he and I are going to take Rev. Wright and place his big mouth over the leaking pipe.

Jumping jesus! Who is that woman?

Good lord. Just think what the wimpy bastard could have hanging off his arm if he could actually act!

domiguy -> RE: BP Oil Spill : Who's Obama gonna call ? (6/4/2010 7:16:58 PM)

Costner could stop the oil with just one menacing waterworld glare.

What is there to worry about now that the Cos is on the case.

Mbmn is so silly. She has no idea what the Costner is capable of.

Dammit, Panda, Costner is a terrific actor [>:] he's almost a national treasure.

I read in the New York Times that there is an increase in support for using a nuke to try to seal the leak; perhaps Academy Award winner Kevin Costner can talk some sense to those folks.

There is increased support for using a nuke..... I will be the first to admit that I am clueless about the best way to stop this, but it doesn't seem like throwing a nuclear bomb at it is the best solution. Wouldn't that cause more harm than good?

I think we need to keep Whineyboy as far away from this as possible. All he's going  to want to do is blow up supertankers, and as satisfying as that may be on some levels, it's probably the last thing in the world we need right now.

All of the deep geological maps of the subteranian strata in that area are the propriotary property of bp. So far they have refused to share that data with anyone. If the president orders a nuke over the objection of bp and it opens up a huge hole that floods the gulf with billions of barrels of oil bp can say "not my fault". Slick move on the part of bp. Time will tell who is the better poker player.

Level -> RE: BP Oil Spill : Who's Obama gonna call ? (6/4/2010 7:38:29 PM)

LadyC, I believe it would indeed cause more problems. Someone asked, "What's worse than a massive oil spill? A massive radioactive oil spill.". They're basing using one on something the Soviets did back in the 60's, using a nuke to seal off a land-based gas leak. This is totally different, and I hope they realize that.

Yes, quite possibly. Nuclear weapons are generally not indicated when you want to make holes smaller; they're best suited for making holes bigger. If they shatter the geological formation above the reservoir, they'll never stop the leak. It'll just keep flowing out until the deposit is empty, which could be years.

That said, in all fairness there is a pretty good chance that it could work - but if it doesn't, we're fucked, and there's no going back and unfucking it. Not worth it. The relief wells will take a couple more months, but they're a sure thing. There's no question they'll work. Better to wait and take the sure thing.
