Ok, I'll admit that our vending machine coffees are horrible, and office made coffees too.

But there's a cafe near my mom's building that has the most amazing coffee...and my favorite is the one that tastes of blueberries. Yes, I love flavored coffees.

As for ones in truck stops and all night diners...I think caffiene content is their highest priority, that and the drink being so strong that either the straw can stand straight up on it's own without the lid assisting, or else the submerged plastic is dissolved by the acid...

I heard that the tea in your country is undrinkable, as it's strong enough to use as a wood stain.

I had a housemother years ago whose tea was so strong she had to put milk in it. She was a Brit.

Hm...okay, I'll play ball. Where's the link for children to learn this very important skill? Is it part of Home Ec. or has a separate class of it's own? Are there different schools of thought on whether the tea is dropped onto hot water, or if the water is poured onto the tea leaves? The same about the milk, is it poured into the hot tea, or does it go into the cup first and hot tea poured onto it? Since I haven't made my own leather floggers yet, only ones from ribbon, rubber, and thin leather strips like ones people could use for shoe strings...this subject fascinates me. I'll look into learning more about it in the next year.

Nick, I don't consider asking the other person out to be a huge deal, and have occasionally initiated it as well. Since you know that going Dutch is important to you, and that it is fairly common for women to expect the man to pay, why not ask her views before you ask her out? I'd think it would be easy to bring it up in the course of conversation, along with favorite movies, animals, and other such things. If nothing else, when you ask her out, you should make it clear that you only plan to pay for yourself, and ask if she prefers just going for coffee or somewhere inexpensive. If she's not interested in going Dutch, you've both saved yourselves the time and money, since you'd be incompatible anyway. If she's willing to pay her own way, but can't afford much, the two of you can find a suitable place to go together, without her feeling caught by surprise at the last moment. If she's fine with spending some money, but feels that going Dutch is unromantic, she can ask you to cover the first date while she gets the next one, or vice versa. If you can't talk honestly about such things, then you're certainly not ready to date each other, just as you should be able to discuss your views about D/s, politics, religion, and other potentially touchy things.
