ORIGINAL: xxblushesxx Yourscum, what exactly is your point here? A woman can't be a master? It's been proven she can. Women shouldn't post here? The mods say it's perfectly fine. What exactly are you trying to prove? I never said they can't post here, clearly they can. I certainly never said a woman can't be in charge or a dominant. I'm just saying by traditional definition, a man in a master, a woman a mistress, just as for example a female who serves food in a restaurant is a waitress, a man a waiter, although now 'Server' seems to be taking over as the common expression, a genderless alternative to the gendered words. I'm going to assume the issue here is literally just you having a problem with the words, which I get. I'm a language geek. Using your "waiter/waitress/server" analogy, let's state generally, Master is male, Mistress is female, but Master is also used as the genderless. Like me saying I'm gay, which is typically used for the male entity. I can call myself gay no problem, whereas a male who calls himself lesbian might get a funny look. The English language, like most others, is set to take the male as standard, like in French and Spanish (and English if your grammar is that perfect) where the plural is masculine if even one male is included in a group. Therefore, if nothing else, saying "Masters" is easier (especially when typing) than having to say/type Masters and Mistresses. Not to mention the connotations of "Mistress" in the minds of many. I imagine plenty of women cringe at the idea of being "the mistress." I could be wrong, of course, and you could just be a troll. But, w/e. tj
