Granted, if you live in a major city, that seems pretty normal. But in Cedar Rapids Iowa, at that time, that was BIGASS moola. You could get a VERY nice house in the burbs for $250,000.00 or less. I was probably making about $9 an hour and would have been hard pressed to find something better.

Exactly. That's why people started flocking to nursing, including men. I have a friend that has an MSW and she's changing fields. She realized she could earn more working less and have time to start a family. I don't believe college is for everyone, but I wanted to give my daughter a realistic snapshot of earnings to allow her to make the best decision career wise. I'm a big proponent for doing what you love as long as it pays the bills. Oddly enough she gave up finance for health care and is looking into entrepreneurial possibilities on that end.

They can have equal rights, but distinguishing the difference between equal rights and being equal is important, lest we rob women of all things that make them feminine and men all things that make them masculine, in persuit of a missunderstood objective.

This is dangerously close to the reasoning behind "protecting the sanctity of marriage" from gay couples. In no way, shape or form is a traditional concept - such as feminine women and masculine men - in need of protection by you or anyone else. Human beings - individuals - are significantly more important than concepts, and we will all make our own decisions about what we want to do with our lives, without consulting the "men/women are better equipped for" guide, thank you very much.

Several people have pointed out to you that they know of or are women who are in jobs that are "traditionally more suited for men." This is in a conversation with about ten people, total, so what does that say to you about the whole world? Perhaps there are many, many women that are working in traditionally "male" jobs (hint: there are), and are just as equipped as their male coworkers.

I would advise you not to date any of these women, however, since they are clearly not your type. No one has said anything against uber-feminine women, so why don't you just stick to pursuing those who are happy as such and stop worrying about protecting society from women who have a different sense of self? No one is being "robbed" of their femininity or masculinity by someone else's identity. I would think that was self-evident.

Men, who are customarily bigger and stronger, are better suited to perform tasks which are made easier by being bigger and stronger.

Women, who are customarily smaller and weaker, are better suited to perform tasks which are made easier or which can't be done by the male in the partnership because he's performing tasks which are easier for him because he is bigger and stronger.

ps, I LOVE that women are relegated to jobs that "can't be done by the male in the partnership" because he's busy being bigger and stronger, while women are smaller and weaker and better suited to tasks that are "made easier."

That made me laugh quite hard, especially considering how most of the men I know are lazy as hell and working desk jobs (like me), and my mom the otolaryngologist surgeon just biked across the country in six weeks. Someone should have told her she's ruining gender roles for everyone in the United States.

Out of curiosity - Which roles are "better suited for men" and which are "better suited for women"?

And when you say "better suited" what do you mean exactly - do you mean, for example, that women shouldn't be allowed to perform those roles that are "better suited for men", or that when recruiting for these roles organisations should simply be allowed to disregard applications from women?

I don't believe imposing limitations on anyone, at any time, for any reason.  You can read through my posts and see that I say in no uncertain terms that I'm for equal rights for men and women.

I've provided examples in my previous posts on jobs that are better suited for men.   The point of all this isn't that "Men should have a set regimen of tasks, women should have THEIR set regimen of tasks, and that men and women should do what nature designed them to do and nothing else."

The point, which is really very simple and supported by actual research which I've read, is that men are biologically geared to do certain things better, and women are biologically geared to do certain things better.

The how come you want to be dominated by a woman? Wouldn't that kind of go against the grain of what men are supposed to do better?

Or is it that anything you choose to do becomes one of those things that men can do better, like switching?

Just remember....you asked the question.

Men: Sperm donors.

Women: Egg donors.

This is a concept known as "thinking for yourself".

Gee, I don't know, because when I engage in a consensual act with a woman she's not REALLY dominating me because we're both agreeing to the terms of the interaction, and that in a world of free choice domination in the context of BDSM is an illusion?

Obviously you understand this if you're here.

Greetings angelikaJ....

My quote is from a male writer who authored over 40 novels. As mentioned many of the women in them were modeled after his wife, Virginia.

You want me to substantiate my claim:

I am trying to do the math here and am guessing that since Ginny Heinlein was born in 1916 that is in the age range of your great-grandmother?

She lettered in 4 sports in college and competed in a 5th on a national level.
She had 2 degrees in chemistry: organic and biochemistry. She met Robert in WWII, after she had enlisted in the WAVES during which time she worked as an aviation test engineer. After the war she went on to study for her doctorate in biochemistry.
She spoke 7 languages, including Russian.

You missed a couple of things about her. First is that she helped with Robert's writing when he was ill and ghost wrote a few things for him. The package blurb for the Avalon Hill game of Starship Troopers she told me which is why he would not autograph it. The second is that she was a very very nice person who was interesting to talk to. I am fortunate that I had that chance twice with one of them for an extended period of time. Those two things I have from talking to her and there are a few others things I have heard that make both of them sound like they would have no trouble fitting into this community as well.

Be well....

Was I insulting you? Crikey, I must be missing something. My post which you have seen fit not to quote was a reply to your making assumptions that I was deliberately targeting you regarding a pissing contest You were only one personb and as peon commented, he also fitted the bill and one (she who shall be nameless) female whose negativity colours her replies and has to enter in to a pissing contest lest a male defeats her.. As I commented and popinted out the male pride was in context of historical situations which you chose to take to heart. talk about outing yourself. Why, I ask, would you have picked up on that, were your own pride wounded.. Not logical otherwise. As I commented, I enjoy your posts even though I don't always completely agree with them. But that again isn't personal just two people with different views. Wisdome? I have never claimed to be particularly wise. I have knowledge and experience which is not wisdom. I'm reasonably well educated at University level and perhaps in some areas can be thought to be very smart. I am able to construct intricate and ikn depth arguments in subjects in which I have both experience and expertise, but outside the realm of professional papers to be published, I honestly can not be bothered , rather playing the buffoon or old fart. I come here to relax and reserve my academic achievements for my professional side..

]I do not attack you old chap in any way shape or form. I have no reason.

Good.  I wouldn't like to see you leaving the toilet with pee dripping down your beard.  That would be unseemly for a man of your stature, IB.

Greetings Malkinius,

I am really glad you offered something personal about her. I realised that was missing from my post even as I was writing it.
It is always an unfortunate casualty whenever one makes generalisations: a person is more (or sometimes less) than the the sole sum of their accomplishments...a point that recurrs within this discussion numerous times and is what prompted my line of posts.
Thank you for taking the time to share your personal experience and observations.

What I also did not mention about these women who were created in her likeness, is that in addition to their being highly intelligent and accomplished, they were also very feminine and sexual.

Thank you again.

Best wishes-
aJ

Sorry to be vulgar, IB.  But I can't get the image of  you, Dbloomer and myself having a pissing contest.  I can't stop laughing about it . . . .

I remember that, once, from primary school.  Three of us boys at the urinal, pissing away, when one of us tries to aim as high as he can.  Naturally, me and the other boy followed.  It splashed everywhere - all over our blazers, shorts, legs - even our faces.

Still - not to worry: it was summer, so it dried off quickly enough.  Our school uniforms were no doubt a bit stiff for the rest of the day - but who cares about that sort of thing as a small boy?

Ah, happy days . . . .

Happy days indeed my friend. AT the last open cut mine about 120 kms due East of Kalgoorlie where I owned the drill and blast crew, it was nothing to see a whole group of drunken miners after the wet bar was closed to gather in a circle about the "PEE-TREE" and and piss their hears out. Rule was you bought a slab of beer for every man whose boots you pissed on.. Strange place Australian Mining Camps, another tradition amongst my own crew was to have a wanking contest where they would gather about a large biscuit (Cracker) on a table and wank over it. The person who did cum last was expected to "Eat The Soggy Biscuit". Perhaps 'tis things like this which either endear us to the ladies, or perhaps not.
