I have worn the things for almost 3 decades, and I don't have as much as a hangnail. My Nana is 87 and still wears heels, not 4 inches *duh* but heels. She did wear a much higher one until she hit her 70's. If you want to post a picture of the most grotesque example you can find with no link, no article, and no reason other than to prove...something, not sure what, don't expect it to get taken all that seriously. I don't anyway.

I have seen pictures of foot binding in China that looked less hideous than that picture Julia. Leaping to the ridiculous and extremely unlikely outcome to serve your own purpose is so well...not conducive to getting many takers I don't think.

Edited to add the link to your picture is found by googling "Bunions, Mayo Clinic." It has no article, no relevance and no mention of this being caused by wearing heels. Check it out.

I remember one time for a job interview I wore stockings and my moms mary jane style high heels, the heels were not that high and they had an ok base to balance on, but they were bothering my feet by the time the interview was over, so I slipped stockings and shoes off right after the interview and after I had left the building, and walked to the car barefoot.

I'd like to address this, and perhaps explain why something as supposedly mundane as high heels every day seems to get an 'over the top' reaction from certain posters in comparison to much more 'edgy' play. Nailing tits to a board, dilating a cervix, bloodplay, gun play and such are sometimes mentioned here with much less hoopla, that is true. Such things are also very obviously dangerous to anyone with 2 axons and a dendrite.

On the other hand, things like like being forced to wear high heels daily, face slapping, and hair pulling are seen by so many people (on both sides of the kneel) as no big deal or something they would not give a second thought to, that the very real possibility of physical damage is often overlooked. Do some go a bit overboard with their warnings? Perhaps, but they are at least educating the OP and anyone else reading the thread that there is a danger. BTW, I listed hair pulling specifically because I suffered 2 dislocated cervical vertebrae as the result of an encounter with a 'dom' who thought hair pulling was a completely safe activity.

I would wager that many D-types and more than a few s-types, prior to this thread, did not know that wearing very high heels on a daily basis can not only damage the feet themselves, but also throw the spine out of alignment and/or cause many other muscle, joint, or skeletal issues. Many people know that wearing high heels all the time can shorten the achilles tendon, fewer know that it can also make fully extending the calf muscles extremely painful. I have pointed a good friend who is a chiropractor to this thread, and hopefully he will post some helpful information.

All that said, I also hope that some high heel loving folks will adopt Aynne's foot care regimen and be much better off for it.
To my mind, it's all good. As with any thread here, people will take what works for them, and leave the rest.

Because not every woman hates wearing heels, obviously, or the High heel shoe business would go out of business, and because some women, even if they hate the discomfort of the shoe, will wear them because they think the shoe is sexy, fabulous, or just because they're submissive and their dom told them to.

Julia that foot binding photo is amazing, i find it weirdly beautiful, thanks for posting that.

about shoes: if they do not fit right do not buy them... breaking them in often does not happen! when they get old and start hurting throw them out.
i always take ages fitting shoes, walking up and down in them, turning... sometimes i really really like a pair (any type of heel or flat) but they just do not fit right so i will not waste my money on them even though i might be ever so tempted... it is like clothes sometimes the shape of the design is just wrong for the way your body is build.
Ladies control yourselves and do not buy shoes that do not fit!!

As far as 'it's just heels', I really can't wear them. I won an argument with a horse if my new straw hat was going to stay on my head or be his lunch, but he did permanent damage to my foot in the process.

I have a sensitivity to this subject because my favorite way to relax and to be meditative is to walk. I already have slight osteoarthritis in my feet from using them well and often.... I am the sort of person that will walk for miles and miles. For me, having damaged feet would be something that would be a devastating blow. I baby my feet and wear good shoes, etc, so that i can slow down any degeneration that has already taken place. In short, losing the ability to walk far distances would be like someone who loved to sing having their vocal chords removed... it is a spiritual activity for me...

Seeing the above has colored my opinions, it is hard for me to imagine risking being able to walk by overwearing heels ... but other people are different from me.

i walk a lot, have good Caterpillar hiking boots
i dance a lot too, wear heels for that
both can be mind blowing to me
if i have to make a choice as to what i like best... it is the dancing, it makes me high

Thank you both. i do totally relate - as i mentioned in my first post, my favorite is barefoot...i'm one of those as soon as i come home, the shoes come off. And doing yoga and pilates barefoot, your feet just enjoy being in that position...it is meditative, for sure.

And i do enjoy my fancy shoes, for going out and so one, but don't wear them all day everyday - i bow down to Aynne on that, for sure!

Secretly - and i don't share secrets often

- i'm hoping my next Master is one that loves me barefoot, or at the least, doesn't want "the shoes" beyond a nice evening out, or in the bedroom. But don't let that get out....
