So, i was chatting with someone who informed me of this Slave registry thing. i checked it out, and the mere idea that exists makes me nervous, (for what i'm hoping are obvious reasons).

What i'd like to know is: have any Master/Mistresses used this registry? What exactly is the purpose? -Is it supposed to be the equivilant of a marriage license? Or is this more of a "business" agreement.

Also, what happens if One's slave runs away, and/or disappears? Does this mean that the Mistress/Master would send out a search party to find, capture, and return "their" slave?

Are there any safeguards for the slave included in the registry?

BTW, i checked out the website, but it didn't give me the answers i was looking for.

Any info about this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

~rain~

belongtoyou,

Yes I have used the slave registry. My current slave is registered and has (at my request) listed me as her owner. Does it provide any legal basis? No. Is it a way for a slave to formally declare to the world that they are a slave? Yes. Does it offer the slave any kind of protection? No.

It is neither a business agreement or a marriage license kind of thing. It is more of a declaration of status. (NOT legal status).

So what value does it have? A couple of things come to mind. The date a slave has registered is shown on the certificate. It gives a way for slave to document how long they have been a slave. It assigns a unique number to each slave, which can then be tattooed on the slave. This can give those who want it a greater sense of being/owning property.

Could a Master/Mistress send out a search party? Sure, but the you wouldn't need the slave registry for that. Just money. And a posse. Do such things happen? Possibly. Does it have anything to do with the slave registry? Nope.

That is my take on the slave registry. I am sure that others will have other opinions.

Hope this helps.

I don't know, a registration number tatooed on the slave has ominous echos of Aushwitz about it. A nice, tasteful scanner-friendly bar-code on the ass wouldn't go astray though, I don't think. (laughing here).

Take care of yourselves.

I just knew someone was going to go here. There is one big difference between the slave registry numbers and the numbers tattooed on “guests” of the various German prison camps. I don't know of a single prisoner at Aushwitz who was there by choice.

And while you may say it is a small difference, I think it is a critical one. The only one who registers a slave at the slave registry is the slave himself or herself. It is a consentual act. Being forced into a prison camp is NOT a consentual act. Trying to link the two because they share the concept of unique numbering seems a bit much.

Lets not make this something other than what it is. It is simply a way for a slave or submissive to declare their status and to provide a record of such if they so desire. That is all it is. Invoking the ghosts of the past, as a scare tactic, seems a bit heavy handed don’t you think?

In all fairness, Shadowhawk; Quote: Leonidas" a registration number tatooed on the slave has ominous echos of Aushwitz about it"

That was exactly what i was referring to in my first post, but did not want to detract from my question.

i am Jewish, and although i understand the difference between consensual slavery and death camps; the symbolism of tatooed numbers on human flesh will always have a profound effect on me.

i am more curious about what the registration itself means to both the Mistress/Master and slave; it's purpose; etc, etc.

Shadowhwk, if i may ask, how many slaves have You registered? And how long were You with Your current slave before You registered her?

Though i myself am not registered, i have several friends that are. They feel very proud to be there. That's why i decided to share the link and posted it here. In the Link forum.

i think it goes right along with being given a collar. ( that is a whole other subject) Something that is very thought out and not done lightly.

The numbers that are given aren't any different then the SS number you have. It is a registration number. Just like we have for numerous other things. Drivers license, Soc. Security, Employee I.D. etc. Kind of like registering a new appliance with the company so that you can maintain the warranty.

There is nothing legally binding being registered there.

I respectfully disagree with your comment "ominous echoes of Aushwitz". I find nothing ominous about it. I have visited both Dachau, and the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Both left me quiet for days. I don’t know how else to put that. It left me quiet. Nothing in the slave registry stirred those depths for me. Like I stated earlier, the fact that the slave registry is consensual makes all the difference. One could also draw, and in my opinion – ill formed, parallels to George Orwell’s 1984 and the biblical Mark of the Beast. But the same has been said about social security numbers here in the states.

To answer your questions; I have only ever been registered as the owner of one slave. And that registration was done within a week of her collaring.

I'm Jewish too and know poeple that are tatooed from the Holocaust. I have to agree with Shadow though. It's a big difference when the person is consentual than being forced to do it. IMO, it's like getting a tattoo of your mates name the way it's explained here.

I am registered in the slave registry and I signed up when I was unowned (there is a selection). I was so proud when I was collared that I could change it to reflect that I was an owned slave and I emailed my Master the Ownership Certificate. I feel that it is symbolic just as accepting a collar is. I do not and am not planning on getting a tattoo anywhere on my body but I suppose it is just like a sub/slave getting their Master's mark tattooed on their body. I can always update my registry status (ie when released, new owner, etc).

Personally, I wouldn't want to tattoo a bar code on any of pets. However, my subby hubby does have my tattoo on his arm. It's the last pic.

BlackGoddess:

Wow, those were great pictures You provided. i noticed they were "engagement" photos, but it appeared to be a significantly different type of ceremony.

i am curious to know more about that particular ceremony/ritual. Also, is Your hubby a registered slave?

thanks,

Yes, he is registered at that site. The engagement party was also a collaring ceremony . My good friend BrownGoddess aka Goddess Anherica performed the ceremony for U/us. She also was the Officiant at O/our wedding. She found the wording for the collaring ceremony online; I will find out where.

Re:numbering et al

i'm glad other people feel the same way i do about refering to individuals solely by numbers.

i had a dominant i interacted with once who wanted to "rename" me with a number. i pretty much freaked. granted, i'm emotional, but for some reason being -refered to- by a number upsets me greatly.

i've seen the slave registry, though, and think it's pretty neat, if a tiny bit silly.

you know what... i'm proud to be owned. it made me feel great to send the Ownership Certificate to my master. i don't understand why you are even on this site (collarme) if you're worried about being a slave. and i agree about anyother number you are given or any tattoo someone might get... if you want it get it, if you don't, don't. i haven't heard any S/M B/D stories being anything like the holocaust. don't get me wrong i feel for the people in the holocaust but registering at (the slave register) has noting to do with it unless you make it that was... and that makes you not very intelligent. this is just how i feel sorry if i hurt anyones feelings

i am proud of being owned as well. and i also have never heared of a relationship paralleling the holocaust. that wasn't my point. what i was saying is that -i- personally am upset by being given a number, by being refer to as a number.

this bothers me. this makes me think of the holocaust (which used to be a subject i studied in great detail and am no particularly sensitive to).

i think to say that someone is not intelligent because their emotions are triggered by something is rather silly and judgemental. one does not always control ones emotions, and they are often set off by something that is completely innocuous to someone else. ex. i have a friend who -hates- to be refered to as "baby" it upsets her greatly and makes her think of child abuse. it has no relation to the person calling her that, nor the situation in which it occurs, it is simply a strange emotional trigger.

i can understand thinking emotions are weird, but i don't like my intelligence being evaltuated based on my (bizare and random) emotional responses.

We're all here for our own reasons. My profile outlines mine, and being a slave or seeking a master certainly isn't one of them.

Looking or not, I think I have things to contribute (others may, of course, disagree with that), and so I'm here. I enjoy the discussion on the messageboards and occasionally the mindless chatter (and some serious conversations as well) in the chatrooms. I think that's as valid a reason as any for being here.

You are always free to disagree, but that won't be a catalyst for me leaving, and hopefully not for anyone else to do so either.
