Damn, I said I was finished with this thread long ago.

Its a right of passage for thinking posters to knock on Delight Machine's political woodhead long and hard only to realize its hard and impermeable. Arguing poltics with him is like trying to change the words of a bad book that's already out in print.

I don't remember you ever going through that right of passage, cloudboy. Aren't you a thinking poster? Am I forgetting some thread in which you argued some point with me? I just don't remember you ever deigning to show me where I was wrong on anything. Just insults. Is that what makes you a thinking poster and me a woodhead? Please help me here because I'm obviously "fucked in the head." I did my best to engage in discussion, argument and debate. What did you do "thinking poster"?

Caitlyn, I've no idea what you're typing about so I'll just nod and say "ok then", (since your entire contribution seems to be mistaken quotes and one-liners with all the substance and opinion of hair gel.  Do you dye your hair by the way, it looks nice)

You could indeed argue that, DelightMachine.  You could also scroll back and see where I said I couldn't take any of this seriously.

You, on the other hand, seem so devoid of humour and irony that its almost pathological.  The whole thread is full of your vitriolic diatribes against anyone who happens to disagree with you (and those that disagree with you seems to be "practically everybody")

I just don't believe your passionate postings really have anything to do with America so much as to do with your own personal inadequacy over something slightly deeper.  I don't trust intensity like yours any more than I trust it from a foaming at the mouth clenched fisted Communist - it's usually just a mask for something else.

But then again, I'm English.  We make bad food, complain constantly about English weather and beat each other to death at football matches.  But by the grace of God, we are sexy motherfuckers.

A police car and a screaming siren -
A pnuematic drill and ripped up concrete -
A baby wailing, a stray dog howling -
The screech of brakes and lamplights blinking -
That's entertainment.

A smash of glass and the rumble of boots -
An electric train and a ripped up 'phone booth -
Paint splattered walls and the cry of a tomcat -
Lights going out and a kick in the balls -
That's entertainment.

Days of speed and slow time Mondays -
Pissing down with rain on a boring Wednesday -
Watching the news and not eating your tea -
A freezing cold flat and damp on the walls -
That's entertainment.

Waking up at 6 a.m. on a cool warm morning -
Opening the windows and breathing in petrol -
An amateur band rehearse in a nearby yard -
Watching the telly and thinking about your holidays -
That's entertainment.

Waking up from bad dreams and smoking cigarettes -
Cuddling a warm girl and smelling stale perfume -
A hot summers' day and sticky black tarmac -
Feeding ducks in the park and wishing you were far away -
That's entertainment.

Two lovers kissing amongst the scream of midnight -
Two lovers missing the tranquility of solitude -
Getting a cab and travelling on buses -
Reading the grafitti about slashed seat affairs -
That's entertainment

Don't you just miss it when you're away though?

Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never of happened to Smeaton
An old leodensian
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I tried to get to my taxi
The man in a tracksuit attacks me
He said that he saw it before me
And wants to get things a bit gory
Girls scrabble round with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen
they're not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

I think the best reply I can make is to point to an old post:
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=221992

Questioning your government is not only the right thing to do, it is the MOST patriotic thing to do. In fact, questioning authority is precisely the job of each and every citizen. This whole idea of "love it or leave it" was clearly dreamed up by people that actually hate the idea of a vigorous republic.

What could be better than issuing edicts for which there is no discussion? Or more subversive yet: allow dissent because it allows the dissenters to be clearly identified given the right surveillance techniques. It doesn't matter anyway, GodMoney will be served.

Why discuss these issues on a BDSM site? Who better understands the precise role of power in human relationships than we do? BDSM is politics! I understand power utterly, because I have controlled the lives of others as if they were trembling doves held in the palm of hands. I understand mercy because I have never had to prove my authority by actually crushing anyone held in my grasp.

Elsewhere UtopianRanger contends that the U.S. is in the hands of a Oligarchical Collectivism - which of course is just another way of saying a totalitarian government governed by an elite plutocracy (loot-ocracy), but actually run by droves of mindless proletarian masses who not only do not question but in fact blindly follow the lead of their greedy ruling class.

Eric Arthur Blair (aka George Orwell):

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power... Power is not a means, it is an end... The object of power is power."

"Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing. Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery is torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress towards more pain. The old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self-abasement. Everything else we shall destroy - everything. Already we are breaking down the habits of thought which have survived from before the Revolution. We have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman. No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. But in the future there will be no wives and no friends. Children will be taken from their mothers at birth, as one takes eggs from a hen. The sex instinct will be eradicated. Procreation will be an annual formality like the renewal of a ration card. We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother. There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. When we are omnipotent we shall have no more need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always -- do not forget this, Winston -- always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless."

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- for ever."

The phrase "Questioning your government is not only the right thing to do, it is the MOST patriotic thing to do." should appear in every school in every country on Earth.

I'm glad you took my last post to wytchywoman so seriously. Some told me they thought there was some humor and irony there, but I told them I was absolutely serious and devoid of irony. Thanks for your careful reading.

Yeah, I was real vitriolic to Blktallfulfig and philosophy, for two.

"diatribes" nice word ...

ok I'll leave you to your thread, Delight.  I'm not sure whether you're determined to be right, or determined to be miserable.  I suspect both, probably.

Let him have his fantasy, until the first England game at least. After that, it's all a painful confrontation with reality.

OK I admit to having everything crossed including my balls too, which makes for a rather painful.experience already.

Yes, we too have mindless cretins in our population just like anywhere else. My apologies for this persons outburst, they are soccer mad and looking forward to England reaching the semi finals and once again loosing the game on penalties after a drawn game at full and extra time termination, usually to the germans.

Hybrid, you sound kind of interesting in a desperately dull kind of way.

By the way, "loosing"....?  "LOOSING?" Let me guess.

You're American.  Or at least you have lived there so long you have picked up their.....how can I put this..... "educationally challenged" ways.

Pssst, meatcleaver, who has won the World Cup more times, England or the USA ?

It's the only pain I'll willingly submit to, though watching England play is actually more painful.

lol I'll make a deal

If England don't get further than America in Germany, I will post a picture of me gagged wearing a sign around my neck saying "I've been silenced.  America kicked England's arse".

It'll be England and Brazil in the final.

Everyone else is just forgettable.

What was wrong with hybrids comments? Why were they removed? I was going to reply to them and they were not offensive. Why do some people who write ok items get deleted yet others who write insulting items get left alone?

Having contributed nothing but vitriol or inane comments to this thread, you've shown yourself to be worthless as a poster. I'm thankful that at least you weren't on my side.

I'm trying so hard here to try to be constructively polite.

Delight, you come across as the guy at a party that sits in a corner complaining about the lighting system being made in a foreign country, rather than getting wasted and picking up a girl.

I can only imagine your line of attack in any debating issue is "wear them down by depressing them senseless".

I actually feel drained reading your postings.  Cheer up man.  Whatever it is you're so eternally miserable about, get over it.

Or at least, quit sharing it.

Look at meatcleavers last post saying how painful it is to watch England.

AT LEAST IT WAS FUNNY
