Maybe so, but in pure speed terms, from both track and defensive road driving POV, it's unlikely you could match my training and experience.

I've carefully weighed my thoughts on this matter, and I'd like to say that my initial post was both poorly worded and poorly devised. On the whole, it was a regrettable position to take (VC was correct, the syntax really did make the question into a position) and I am left rather embarrassed by the fact that I inadvertently insulted some quite lovely people in the process of trying to stir a discussion. It's telling, I think, that the sub guys who did show up in the thread comported themselves as both articulate and dignified men. In all candor, I had rather counted on a few more flopping and screeching around and generally making asses of themselves, which would have proven my point. Instead, it was a pretty clear demonstration that at least on this board, on this day, the archetype of the wimpy sub guy is NOT in ascendancy.

The Dude sincerely regrets any ill will or inconvenience his ill-conceived post might have generated. The fact is, plain and simple, the other sub guys and those who rose to their defence came off looking, for the most part, quite brilliant.

I am grateful that during the course of the thread we were able to share a few laughs. I even had occasion to email a few dudes and get a few things straightened out via backchannel, but I also wanted to say publicly "My fault, guys. I can't promise to never step in it again but I can promise that if I do I will eventually see the error of my ways and do what is possible to set right what went wrong."
