My two favourite professors in uni were a finicky, proper little Englishman who always spoke longingly of his school days back in England and a gigantic, infectiously gregarious Scot with a deep booming voice and the most impressive beard I have ever seen. They were best friends and during summer holidays they used to throw the best lawn parties for some of us who remained on campus throughout the summer where we'd drink Homeric quantities of wine and spend hours playing croquet deliriously drunk. Good times.

When I was about five my brother (who would have been about twelve) made me a birthday card that said 'Happy Birthday Dudette!', and had a picture of me driving along in a convertible with sunglasses and my hair streaming out behind me.

That expression of love right there is the one instance in the history of the world where the word was genuinely cool.

Every time I've heard it since has been a let-down.

It may - based on the lack of adverse comment in this thread it must - be different in the US. But to me your over-use of this ghastly word is about as irritating as it gets.



It is obvious that he watched, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, repeatedly during his formative years.

You should console yourself with the fact that he is not also using the term, "Bogus."
