If its as meaningless as you make it out to be, why did they take down the map with the crosshair targets?

They targeted his home for emphasis... its not the first time such a tactic has been used, either at a state or federal level.

They targeted his home to say we know where you live, otherwise they could have protested at the state house. Sure they have the right but so does Phelps, the man who they emulate.
