Technically you are not supposed to go out of state when on those programs... certainly not for any amount of time.

I know PA,  one shouldn't be on a vacation.

I can understand allowing purchases with the food stamps, especially now.  Say some one is here in FL and a place in GA is hiring.  You run up for a couple of days beat the pavement and put in as many applications as you can.  You should be able to eat while doing it.

I'm sure you know from your economics course that a consumer maximizes their utility the best with cash.
So if you want the most effective use of resources or the biggest bang for your buck give them cash, or don't you believe in Adam Smith's invisible hand anymore?

No where in the bill does it say that.

What a surprise! lol

To clarify, what it does say is that you can only convert $20 of EBT cards (food stamps on plastic) to cash a month, the rest has to be used directly for merchandise. I dont see why ANY of it should be available in cash.

Just to be with willbeur here, and entirely against everything everybody else is arguing about  ...

I propose that we eliminate the $20 cash-back for food stamp recipients entirely, as consequence of and in combination with a $2 million cash-back-per- slot-machine,  triple-oranges-rigged-for-the-retail-and-investment-banks still now allowed, and indebting the country for eons, limited thus wise?

Let us choose which would best save the most trillions of taxpayer dollars. Or actually both, what I am proposing here.

What say, folks?

The larger merchants don't care, they just see it as the cost of doing business. BUT since most merchants are paying a % of the sale or a transaction fee plus % of the sale I understand smaller merchants trying to keep a minimum sale price. You can actually process a small charge that winds up costing you money.

Not to derail... but I pay that fee for every credit card I run for customers at the restaurant. 3% of my tips goes to paying that. lovely.

The thoughtful response prior immediately followed and putting focus whereby as previously instructed, by mere "everyday" existence ...
