ORIGINAL: SylvereApLeanan It depends on the topic and whether or not I'm conversing with someone or doing something passive like watching television. If I'm watching TV, I probably won't look it up because I don't want to spend time on reasearch when I'm trying to enjoy the show. If it's something that really piques my curiosity, I might look it up later. If I'm conversing with someone, then it depends on whether I need to know in order to continue or if the conversation would be better served by asking questions of the person with whom I'm communicating. Sometimes, it's better to let the other person tell me about a topic as a means of drawing that person out and encouraging further conversation. If I'm talking to somebody and they say something I don't understand I like to say loudly and firmly "Hang on. I am Googling what you just said!" It lets them know I am interested, and also discourages them from saying things I might not understand in the future. When I talk to clever people, I like to drag them kicking and screaming down to my level of facile pop culture references and conversations about pizza toppings.
