Long/scientific answer: From a physical/anatomical standpoint, there is a group of nerve endings in the rectum around a mans prostate (women have the same in the same area, just no prostate gland). When these nerve endings are stimulated, it can cause a great amount of pleasure, or pain, depending on how they are stimulated. Combined with the prostate gland, it can make for quite an orgasm.

I agree with the sentiment that it is primarily about submission, control, power, and obedience, but I might put a little different spin on it. I have been pegged (to steal a Savage Love term), had toys manually used on me and have had fingers used on me. I have never experienced anything close to the pleasure of the alleged male g-spot and at the same time it is not really painful either. Intead, I would describe it physically as both intense and uncomfortable (though not necessarily intensely uncomfortable if that makes any sense). Of course what is going in me and how forceful it is being used impacts this. Since it is intense and uncomfortable, my body's instinctive reaction ist to resist it and this just makes it worse.

Given that, it is only through my desire to submit to the desires of a dominant woman (or top) that this ever happens. Dude, somebody's doing it wrong. I had a partner who suffered from IBS. He was deeply submissive and wanted to please so was willing to engage in ass play but hated it.
