If they look like the fleshy variety then that's a deal breaker.

It'a a long list. At 52 I have become very particular. But here are the top 6
1. Doesn't like animals
2. Large number of failed relationships, such as marriages where the relationship with the ex is hostile, failed relationships with children, bad relationships with parents.
3. Unfit and unhealthy.
4. Unkempt
5. Shiftless
6. Stupid

Oh, I also broke up with someone one time because he paid 75 bucks to go see Anne Coulter, of all people. Definite deal breaker

I don't want to be a pest anyone, but I'm just curious....Dommes and subs alike, and anyone else who chooses to answer...what are some "deal breakers" for you? Things that, even if everything else was right, would kill it for you. Some that come immediately to mind for me are dishonesty, thievery, horrible hygiene, and continually trying to manipulate me.

The reason I'm asking this is (1)I'm just curious and (2)I just released someone because he would not clean up his hygiene, even though I gave him detailed instructions. I know, I know, I should have known but, honestly, he wasn't stinky at first. Anyway, what are some of your deal-breakers?

~Hisprettybaby~

Lack of red licorice (on demand).

Leather (her...not wearing any).

Me....not showing up for dinner.  (Steak, by the way).

JJ is lying. Not only are we not married, but I don't have a capybara!

Lots of these are just screening this, really--have I misunderstood the question? I took it t mean, What would motivate me to release someone from service? Not, What qualities do I need to be interested.

yeah,... its too bad we cant just have a list of questions and run thru them the first time we talk on the phone so we dont waste each others time... sigh.. but ask too many questions and you get the whole interview thing thrown at ya... Its a downer when you have taken time and effort and started to get to know someone and then something unacceptable about them is discovered...

I have been accused of being too analytical. (translation- I ask too many questions!) lol

Either I guess. I mean either what would motivate you to release someone from service and also what would make the person not an option in the first place.

not liking animals is definitely one.
also not caring about health or hygiene.
substance abuse issues ...
cigarette smoke makes me sick, but i overlooked it for the Dude -- everyone has a vice.
i also think... someone who only wanted to be in the city EVER -- it's really important to me to be able to touch grass and trees and all that junk. a big city without any of that, or with only small amounts of it that were really difficult to get to, that would be hard for me to live in.
someone who's stuck; who doesn't want to learn anymore, who doesn't want to experience new things anymore, who can never change an opinion, etc...

those are some things that i'm fatally incompatible with.

This reminded me of the other deal breaker I have besides honesty, well this post and Anne's post. Bad/failed relationships with children first of all and family second. Not taking care of your children is included there as well.

True story. I met someone who was attractive, articulate, very good job in DC, interesting, etc. All in all a great prospect and things between us were progressing well. We met for a second coffee date where he proceeded to tell me a story he thought was funny. About how he was taking the gf, soon to be second wife, to meet his kids who had just moved with their mother into a new home. He didn't have the exact address, just the neighborhood, the gf didn't understand how he'd know where the house was. He pulled into a driveway and they went to the front door. Sure enough it was the right place. He explained to her later that he went into the neighborhood and looked for the most unkept/disgusting/filthy place house there.

Later in the same conversation he told me with a shake of the head how these new living quarters included holes in the floors that you could actually fall through and how his daughters never seemed to have any clothing when they came to visit him. I was in shock by now and asked why he didn't keep these children and raise them himself and he replied - because the new gf didn't want them around. Wow. I got up and left and never spoke to him again. He chased me out into the parking lot saying that he couldn't 'make' the ex spend his support money on her living quarters or clothing and it's true, you pay your money and you really have no say in what it goes to but to know that he let those girls live like that because a woman (who he eventually divorced as well) said so made it clear that I could never have any kind of respect for him.

The list of things I'm incompatible with is pretty long! So, on the positive side:

He has to have a sense of humor that MATCHES mine. Making me laugh is essential.
A good outlook--life has enough suck, no need to dwell on gloom & doom.
Family values--good relationships with family members, no residual ex-related rage.
Intelligent, kind, good hearted, well mannered...

The kink stuff matters too, but I don't need that in my primary relationships,so has to be okay with my having other play partners, though not secessarily sexual ones.

Must love cavies. And tolerate a grey parrot.

Some of my need-to-haves include honesty, a sense of humor, intelligence, good manners & good hygiene, and a positive outlook on life. Common interests also, because if I can't be a friend with or like the person, how can I be in any kind of relationship w/ him....

Dishonesty, Unwilling to listen, anxious to meet without proper communication, stupidity, Daddy Doms are a HUGE turn off for me. I once chatted with someone who I had already told him why I do not like the Daddy Dom scene as my own father passed away when I was young. The stupid ass asked me the following Day if I ever dreamed about having sex with my father. Completely disrespectful!  Put me in pig-tails and call me a naughty little girl but I will shut down when called "Daddy's little girl. "

The relationship with offspring is critical. I had a similar experience with someone Lizi. He told me a story about how his ex wife got their 3 teenage kids addicted to meth. He "tried" to intervene, but the kids were too rebellious. So he let them stay with her, instead of getting custody, getting them help, anything. DEALBREAKER!
The way I see it, the parenting is the most important thing I have ever done. I can't imagine someone who would choose someone like that for the mother of his kids, and would then abandon the kids when they were obviously in trouble.

If you mean a deal breaker in a bdsm realtionship I have a list!
I do not mind if someone dresses a woman, but it is something I
do not want for my submissive!  No sharing no need to prove to me
your own by me by going down on another male!  It is okay for others
Ihave nothing against them!  No sharing him with other women I seen other
domme whom want to share their submusssive to others to prove he is willing
to show that he can do anything for them, this is something I willnever do!
No talk of scat, that would break everything from the start for if this is what someone
wants I do not judge others whom do this it is not for me or my smubmissive, if he after some
time comes up with these I will break it off and and let him find someone whom likes this!
No second mistress,!  Oh wait "is this what this post is about?  ??????????

Why settle? Since it makes you sick, go for non-smokers only.

Personal hygiene - I ended 2 relationships because the guys did not seem to realise that it had to smell a FUCK of a lot better than that if it was going anywhere near my mouth .

Honesty and fidelity. You only get one chance to tell me a lie. After that you can't be trusted.

A sharp mind, a sense of humour and the ability to enjoy life rather than endure it.

I don't mind guys with a bit of meat on their bones, but if you're so overweight it affects your health, you're not for me.

Similarly, I don't want a guy who is rail-thin or massively muscled. Just an average guy with lots of squishy bits to snuggle into.

And smoking...EEEEWWW!!! Hard limit.
