I want to know why CM doesnt do more to protect the general public from scammers. I saw earlier today that some one put up pics and names of scammers to help some of us but now CM has shut that person down. Every one I chatted with said it was something positive yet you shut them down. Why are you not helping us.

They are helping you. They set up a list of rules that you agreed to when you signed up to the site which says you cannot blacklist other users. That prevents the terminally stupid/malicious from labelling others who have 'wronged' them as fake.

If you can prove that someone is a scammer, it's up to you to get off your butt and report it to site support.

I want to know why more people don't use common sense.  If people let their big heads handle the thinking, they wouldn't get scammed.

OMG! Dude,..you list your age as 65, you have been on here since 2008,.. and you want to know of a class action lawsuit against CM? You need protection from scammers? awwwwww

There is no way to protect people against themselves, there are warnings all over this site not to send money to anyone, blah, blah, blah.. if you dont heed the warnings then you need to be blaming the person you see in the mirror every morning.. Sheeesh!

eta- you saw that someone posted a list of scammers? your profile states that "someone" was you... who you trying to kid? So isnt you saying you saw someone put it up a lie? a scam? trying to make something appear as it is not.. sleazy, sleazy, sleazy.. [8|]

The problem with lists that label someone as this thing or that is that you never learn how to think for yourself. What do you think this is, politics?

It does help with scammers or have you not seen the notice it puts up each page when you receive mail:

DO NOT SEND MONEY TO OTHER USERS FOR ANY REASON!

Oh my, this is hysterical. "Someone" posted a list of scammers on a free site and you have your panties in a wad because it was taken down as it violates the TOS of this site. Really? Then you say it's another user when you have it in your profile that it was you....? Really? Did you honestly not think that people would look at your profile? Woo hooo, what a Dumbinant, I can see the ladies lining up for someone who can't figure out who is real and who isn't and wants to sue a free site for not protecting him. [8|]

You have to have suffered some actual damage for a class action lawsuit.  Suffering from your own ignorance, stupidity (yes, I know that is redundant), naivete, and pure desperation that you allow yourself to get scammed is in no way the fault of the site.

Personal responsibility.  You should try it.

Wow. Y'all sent me to the profile because I didn't know where this talk of a lawsuit came from, now I do. All I can say is WOW.

First of all if CM is in any way actionable for transporting scam attempts, then so is your ISP. If US law is that fucked up ( could be, should I ask my lawyer ? ) and the OP were to obtain his own hosting and put up a page of "CM scammers" they would probably be able to sue him for economic terrorism. That's right, in some cases telling the truth can get you in trouble. This little known abomination is used to silence whistleblowers in the food industry, like those who get pictures of baby chicks getting debeaked and piglets' teeth being cut down, shit like that. It is used rarely but it is on the books.

So if he hurts the scammers' income, that is actionable. Know why ? Because in this country it is not illegal to lie. No shit. The media can lie, advertisers can lie, they can misrepresent products to a degree, which is a very intense subject for industry here; just how much can they legally lie about. They have teams of lawyers to make sure they are pushing the envelope but won't get their ass in a sling.

Class action lawsuit, thanks for the laugh.

Needing to refer to a list to determine who is scamming you says an awful lot about your dominance.
