EVERYONE should be careful when meeting strangers. It matters not what they call themselves or where they will be met. Stranger danger kids. There are nutty bugs everywhere, and I don't mean the kind you can catch and need a doctor to get rid of. It doesn't matter what side of the lash they are on. Or what side of the computer. It doesn't even matter if all their kink friends say they are "just fine" As to the munch thing...yeah there are some that can even hide there. I have a friend that is very much into the "community"...well she was, until she met a very sweet sub who when he was told she really didn't think things would work out beat her cat to death and nailed it to her front door. As far as I know he is still part of the "community" Safety first kids, check them, than yourself and don't do stupid things that would make your mother wonderful if she raised you or wild rabbits did.

Since I don't play publicly or casually, I have no ties to the "community" and don't go to munches at all and couldn't care less if Master had been in the community either. Group think isn't usually my thing anyway.

I trust my instincts far more than I trust the opinions of strangers.

I moved to live with a man without meeting him. I knew three of his exes. One lived down the street from him. No munch, no "community" attachments, and I was completely safe with him.

I had dinner last week with a man who said he discovered the element carbon and his wife who claimed to have invented the harpsichord. I feel like such a fool for not checking them out first. If only Daddysgudgirl had been here sooner I would have known better!

To me meeting someone at a munch or a play party is just creepy and I would get the feeling that there was some kind of hint of play or posturing for others.

I'm the same way. I was make very clear that our first meeting would have nothing to do with BDSM or D/s. So, meeting at a party or an event would have made for a mixed signal.

Part 2 is that if I go to a social or a party, I'm there to see friends. If you meet and don't like him, you're stuck dealing with him for the rest of the evening.

As for the OP: What you've posted is just common sense. While appreciate the intention, I would hope that what you've said would be painfully obvious.
