Tristan Taormino, a noted expert on the BDSM community wrote in The Village Voice, "It's possible that she regretted her participation and re-wrote her role into an unwilling victim, but it's equally likely that Marcus lost touch with reality, believed he actually owned her, and behaved accordingly."

I actually had to do a google search to find out what "skin braiding" even was. Some of us are more than happy to play in the shallow end of the pool with cute little water wings. However, I certainly don't feel the need to comment or judge other peoples' legal, consensual sex lives. Party on.

If one doesnt make comments and challenge people to answer "why" for people who dont understand then how can somene crawl into anothers mind to see their view.

I saw that too. Just the thought of it seems like it would bring more pain than a person could stand. I mean, first cutting the skin... ok, then separating the skin from the muscle/flesh depending on where it's being done seems like it would just put an end to the play, let alone sitting through someone pulling on and braiding the freshly separated parts. *shivers*

I've heard some people claim to have it done but I don't know them personally and it's only what I've heard. Whether it exists or not I don't know. It's not something I would probably do <at least I hope not...cringe> but it was just one example of the extreme things that people do.

I have seen some VERY body modified people in the Portland area. In Hawaii last week, I saw a guy who must have had 50 face piercings, and who had stretched his earlobes with gauges so much, that his earlobes hung down to his shoulders. However, I have never seen anything that even remotely resembles skin braiding. I am sure someone, somewhere has actually done it, but perhaps it is more of an urban myth?

I think as it is described, "skin braiding" would result in dead skin. I understand the premise behind it is sort of like a skin graft, but there would be areas of skin which are braided that would not get any blood supply and thus could not "reattach". There is no promise that ANY of that skin would reattach. That skin that didnt would die, shrivel, look awful, and I think the whole thing would probably result in a massive infection.
