My comments are not a personal attack on you.

Nor taken as such. You're the dude who started impuning motives. I'm just pointing out facts you aren't liking much.

Excuse me you were the one to say you were "done with" me, you were the one to get pretty aggressive with your opinions, and you were the one to post a tin-foil image the very first time I posted on this thread. If you think the opposite put up a link to the post where I did so.

Actually, this is everyone's experience--the CFLs do indeed last much longer.

Their incandescent bulbs are much better in terms of lifespan.

A whole world of evidence--from credible sources that actually address this very issue--says you're wrong on this point.

You edited your post to include the above. I have cited quite a few sources from non-crazy sources. I suggest you do the same to reinforce your perspective since you claim to know of "credible sources".

Three, actually. Again, none of which address lightbulbs.

Well then it is strange that some say the opposite, isn't it?

Thats obviously a lie on your part since we went over them in depth. There were more than three sources, and most of them mentioned lightbulbs.

I asked you to cite what you claim to be "credible sources" and it was with regard to planned obsolescence, not over lifespan. I know very well that there are planty of sources (including manufacturers) saying that CFL's last longer - my point being that the experiences of some (including myself) suggest the opposite.

Cheap shot again - I cited three sites that had noting to do with any other form of conspiracism.

Have you been READING these posts?

I would suggest you haven't but you have shown a contempt for the truth and those that disagree with you on here so in keeping with that you misrepresent the truth again. There were two wiki sources referring to the phenomenon, the TED article, the piece published on a university site, the computer world piece, the economist piece (not mentioning bulbs), The Experts Column website, and a member of the European Parliament. That is no less than eight links, not of which are disreputable.

Again....

Your TED link is a DISCUSSION.
Your "university" piece is a personal web page (see the ~ followed by the name?), which even cites the ACTUAL publisher.
Several links that DON'T discuss light bulbs, with the exception of one that takes about flashlights.
One link about a failed cartel.

Keep repeating your mantra, but it won't suddenly become true.

That's what you posted. That's my "contempt for the truth." I didn't even get to argue with your sources---you've yet to come up with support for your claim. Except one discussion by a guy from the Netherlands on the Internet. Stop the presses.

ROFL how is providing some links to credible sources proving a negative? If you are referring to the failure of CFL's then I never asked you to prove the opposite. I was merely pointing out that from experience they are not as good as claimed.

If you want to establish planned obselesence in incandescent bulbs, find a source.

If you want me to find a link that says it never happened, that's proving a negative.

Sigh.

Honestly, Dude.

A RELEVANT source.

OMG we are going around in circles. I answered these points already, and your fancy images won't cut it here.

The TED link is not a discussion. It is an article, partly intended to start a discussion.

The article was published on a university website. The piece was also published in an engineering magazine which doesn't negate its quality, in fact it reinforces it.

The link was not about a "failed cartel" but a very successful one.

Every piece but the one in the Economist mentioned planned obsolescence of lightbulb technology.

Sigh. Enjoy your world.

By the way, from your Wiki, "Economic and legal threats by Phoebus did not achieve the desired effect, and in 1931 the Scandinavians produced and sold lamps at a considerably lower price than Phoebus."

I don't know if you are trying to prove Goebbels' theory that repeating a lie often enough will turn it into the truth but it won't work.

It is not so much proving a negative to find a source saying it never happened. More so it is proving a positive, namely that the conspiracy is untrue. Why? For the simple reason that it has been very widely known for decades now, and if untrue it would be easy to find a source arguing the case robustly.

That does not make it a failed cartel simply because it didn't win one bout with a regional producer. From the same source "The cartel reduced competition in the light bulb industry for almost twenty years" - thus it achieved its aims. Once again you engage in selective reading.
