How true is this. I love Potter. Can't stand those Twilight books.

Haven't checked out 50 Shades of Grey, yet, but sounds like BDSM version of Twilight (?) May have to pass....

I cannot stand Twilight. There are no words to explain how much I loathe it. So, I am pretty sure that I would hate this series.

I decided to look it up because it's the second time I've heard about it today and all I can say is....WOW. I can't even believe this got a book deal. It's not only embarrassingly far fetched, it's also incredibly poorly written.

i hate twilight.. only read about half of the first..before giving it back to my then teenage daughter

still.. ill read this..to see what i think.

hated the story of o

loved the beauty series...

and we shall see how i feel after i finish this.. thanks for sharing the free copy.

I don't hate the Story of O - but I do hate how it ends. Guess I'm more of a romance girl than a "gothic horror" girl.

I love Anne Rice's Beauty trilogy. My favorite piece of mainstream BDSM fiction. Have yet to read any BDSM fiction that I enjoyed as much as that. Something tells me 50 Shades of Grey is NOT going to be it either....

Saying that it's "'Twilight' for grownups" will not get me to read it.

I had an ex with twin, tween daughters and was forced to sit through the first movie.

Every book Stephen King ever wrote is a nerd revenge fantasy.

It's rich territory, to be sure, but the genre is worn kinda thin - the whole revenge fantasy genre is kinda played out, Christian, gay, all of it, we kinda back to all purpose stupid, and adolescent angst.

That's the prob with multi-culti, gotta find somebody to hate, or grudge fuck, at least.

Otherwise politicians have to find something constructive to do with the public's trust.

Have you ever read 'The Story of O part 2' ?.................it is the biggest bunch of two-dimensional crap this side of our politicians but if anybody wants it, I will mail it to them and even pay the postage. The can pass it on to the next masochist *smile*

That's the problem with erotica, it's hard to resolve the tension in a satisfying way, hence the money shot. They either have to live happily ever after or die.

That makes O either a bodice ripper or a tragedy, depending on your preference.

I should check out the Beauty thing, I think Rice is a better writer than King, although she's an incurable serialist - which is not necessarily a bad thing if you're an incurable reader. I kinda just overloaded after about the Tenth book, and stopped giving a shit. A long time ago.

'Course vampires can't die, so tragedy is out, and being tortured Byronic heros is much of their appeal, so they can't live happily ever after either - if you can't end it, I guess all you can do is keep going.

Nah, I'm all about Ruth Rendell nowadays, if I got time to read at all - now that chick knows how to resolve conflict.

Yes, I have read it. Just recently in fact. Calling it two dimensional is giving it more praise than it deserves. If your novel about slave girls puts me to sleep rather than exciting me then YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG!

I agree Malcolm.............and the paper is too thick to hang it in toilet. I used it to wedga a door open for a while but it wasn't even any good for that. I have had no takers wanting me to send it to them yet either. It is a genuine offer

Well, the Beauty trilogy is my favorite set of BDSM mainstream fiction. But it is not my favorite piece of literature by any stretch....

I haven't read this book, and don't have any desire to read Twilight fanfic or rip-offs or whatever, but these days I kind of prefer kinky lightly-D/s romance erotica (think "Secretary") to really hardcore S&M erotica. I guess because it's more realistic? I mean, stuff like those Anne Rice books are really hot, but they're also really implausible.
