Problem solving is conflict resolution. In the absence of conflict, there is no problem to solve.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/7/2012 10:34:24 AM)

There is a conflict between the cost of health care and our ability to pay for it; hence, there is a problem to be solved. In my experience Republicans seem to think that conflict is something to be endured as opposed to resolved. You don't solve anything.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/7/2012 10:36:34 AM)

According to Republicans, it is taboo to solve problems.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/7/2012 11:11:12 AM)

The presupposition is that there is no solution. In such a case an attempt to solve a problem will naturally result in bad consequences. They discount out of the box solutions. Only in box solutions are thought legitimate. Why? I'm uncertain, maybe it is because they are called conservatives and this is what it means to be conservative. A conservative is a person who discounts out of box solutions. Is it rational to discount out of box solutions?

Your politics is your personality disorder. Out of box solutions are in general speculative and will likely not work, but this is only a rule of thumb.

I wonder if techniques used to treat personality disorders could be used to help people with different political persuasions get along.

I don't mean to intrude on your conversation, but you do amuse me.
Carry on.

What makes government wasteful? Government may be wasteful because government is not fluid whereas business can be. That business can be and often is more fluid than government is again a rule of thumb, not a fact. There is rational cause to be suspicious, but not dismissive.

To make government more fluid could make government more efficient. IT'S THE LAW is not a recipe for efficiency. It is a recipe for stagnation. In order to make government more efficient, you have to make it less out to get you.

Terror = irrational conservative thinking.

The problem with this is you are making a trade between one variety of predator with another. Outwardly, a softcore rapist may seem less objectionable compared to a hardcore rapist, but a hardcore rapist does less overall damage to the morals of the community.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/7/2012 12:14:26 PM)

How would inflexibility, lack of fluidity, result in waste? If you should discover a loop hole or vulnerability you have a bonanza.

Shall the rest of us just leave you to it?

Maybe he'll be able to figure out the difference between dialectic and narcissism. Or among a discussion forum, a blog, and Twitter.

I briefly watched a documentary on economics, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Commanding_Heights:_The_Battle_for_the_World_Economy. Vladimir Lenin was making reforms near to the end of his life, but he encountered interference. What Lenin encountered was I suspect your politics is your personality disorder. Lenin was an intellectual and wasn't blinded by his ideology. Apparently, he did not believe in communism because he had a certain variety of personality disorder. He could admit that communism was flawed. Everyone else around him couldn't.

While strongly in favor of this trend, the authors worry that globalization will not last. More specifically, they believe that if inequality in economic growth remains high, ... the movement will end ...

This is what must be fueling our current politics. I'm guessing that our intellectual elite are worried that inequality may be the end of capitalism.

Maybe someday you will figure out that the only thing that matters is truth.

Way ahead of ya, Bennie.

Perhaps you'll try some yourself.

That is a queer response, unless I intimidate you.

Quotes from http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/heather/ezra-klein-explains-why-republicans-dont-t

quote:

So by keeping his members off the major bills, he makes each and every one of those pieces of legislation into a partisan bill, and he destroyed the president's hope for image as a bipartisan compromiser.

The keyword here is "president's hope". They were not interested in truth. They were interested in destroying the president.

quote:

He is my favorite politician by far, and not just because of his good looks or his Southern charm. It's because Mitch McConnell is the most honest man in Washington.
...
No, he told Garrett, quote, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

Is this honesty or aggression?

Thinking further. This thread is what I have to offer.

Perhaps we should name April 15th Barack Obama Day

Or even better, DNC Day

quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court's decision to uphold most of President Barack Obama's health care law will come home to roost for most taxpayers in about 2½ years, when they'll have to start providing proof on their tax returns that they have health insurance.

You don't seem to understand the mindset of a Democratic very well. As a rule of thumb, Democrats do not regard taxes as offensive. Taxes do not make them wake in fear in the middle of the night though it can be so argued that taxes strike fear in the hearts of Republicans. This is rhetoric directed entirely to Republicans. Surely, Barack Obama is a terrorist! LOL

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/7/2012 3:06:09 PM)

In the American Revolution it was No taxation without representation. It wasn't Read my lips: no new taxes.

All the better to give them that as their holiday then.
