Yes a Japanese company in fact has a working prototype of a microwave system that works with less then 12 percent loss of energy over a 200 mile distance.

OMG! The Government is going to take over the HotPocket business! Socialized heating BEWARE! There will be long waiting lists, and some HotPockets will just expire before they can be heated! I hear the Obama administration is going to MANDATE a Single Heater Initiative where you will HAVE to use the Government's socialized heating system or pay a fine!

It's Obama's Fault! BE AFRAID! Move to Canada! Eat HotPockets!

The climate changes constantly, always has and always will.

I caught this yesterday on the ABC evening news.

There appears to be more and more scientists, that are slowly coming to believe what many of us, have thought for YEARS.

Global warming does exist, and the climate is changing.
In fact, many scientists believe that not only does it exist, it is also
accelerating.

At this point, many of us just sit back and watch as the weather continues to change and accelerate.
As I was telling someone today, many will never believe, even if the average temperatures rise to 150-200 degrees.

Many of us, continue to find this odd, wild, interesting and incredible.

Many Scientists believe global warming is accelerating/ABC News

Oh God not gonna argue or debate using online gotcha articles. Ever been peer reviewed ? It is not about accuracy, it is about the peer's ego's. Ever been to a convention with scientists? I have and believe me I have never seen any consensus on anything.

As for the hot pocket market, I Think it is safe to say it is safe from being taken over or being exposed to massive microwave radiation from a beam sitting 22,000 miles or further in a la grange point. Now pop tarts on the other hand could be at risk!!

I am more worried about us destroying the worlds resources first, then Global warming man made or not.

Here is a single case in point: We can not eve get the various agencies stateside or internationally to work together in placing enough buoys with various sensor packages on board to get accurate water salinity and temperatures and hundred other data points,so we can to input the data into making a more accurate model of what the water currents are doing. Same goes for atmosphere and upper atmosphere.Only one place collects routinely any significant data and that is Antarctica. How in the hell are you going to get the world's governments to comply and be verified, when you cannot even get them to at least collect the damn data in the first place and share it.

While the points you raise if not the extremes are granted, your position presents all information as subjective, in which case all "facts" are useless, no data ever relevant, and knowledge impossible by definition.

Uhhh, ok. I agree with "incredible" anyway.
Just a couple thoughts for you:
1) Why does the mainstream media only bring this up during heatwaves?
2) Data shows the last several years have been very cool, and increasingly so.
3) Nobody in this thread has mentioned Climategate yet? Briefly, the scientists in charge of researching global warming (hundreds of prominent names, with billions in research money, working for many years - "Climatic Research Unit") had their emails hacked and posted online. The emails showed the scientists were paid to fake the results, hide the fact that the planet has been cooling lately, and figure out a way to make the public believe in man-made global warming so that a global Carbon tax could be created. Of course, an internal investigation was conducted and everybody involved was cleared of any wrongdoing. A lot of people haven't even heard about it. But surely, people interested enough in the topic to post on this thread, should have?

As for "the climate is changing", that's a good statement. It's true for Earth, not just now but at all times in the past 4.5 billion years. It's also true of every other planet in the universe, not just now but at every point in their history as well. It's not possible for climates to stay the same over time.

25 years ago, we had: Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash, and Bob Hope. Today, we have Barrack Obama, no cash, and no hope.

Ah, Reagan, the start of borrow and spend, quadrupling the national debt in just 8 years, and turning the largest creditor nation in the world into the largest debtor nation in the world. Fast work. No cash indeed.

Of course, we turned that around after 8 years of Clinton, even retiring the national debt clock.

But O, the glory days of Reagan! Bush brought it all back, while Cheney brought back the Nixon years.

We could have been building now on the renewable energy investments Carter started but Reagan squashed. We could have been enjoying the benefits of paying off our national debt, saving that interest and burden. Imagine what we could be building if that were the starting point.

But no. Reagan great, Obama bad. All by himself.

Data in general is ever evolving being updated making it a moving end point. The problem is not the data, it is those factors, variables outside in the collection, evaluation and problem solving outside of the data points that makes this a futile endeavor. It is frustrating when you are trying to allocate resources or actually provide a solution to a real problem, not a perceived problem or a money laundering ponzi scheme. We very well could be either sitting on the cliff of a super hot climate or siting on the edge of a new ice age.The data does not support a general conclusion either way yet. This is not the first time nor last time scientist could be holding the bag for making long term wrong judgements based on limited false collected data.

We tried to get funding to study whether the gulf stream has changed course, slowed down or increased last year and was told their was no money to fund such a long term project. They will fund a short term project, which would not give us any useable data.

Not sure why that is such a shock. They taught us that in elementary school at the same time they taught us how the great lakes were formed.

Weather.

Climate.

Global Warming.

They aren't synonymous.

I have believed for some time that because of the lack of compelling evidence, global warming is actually a religion. The people that espouse this theory seem to be saying: "Trust me. It's happening"

Unfortunately, I don't find many of them to be trust-worthy. They are deeply dug in with companies for whom it is in their best interest to make people follow their new religion.

Forget "proof positive". These people haven't even come up with credible, scientifically accepted evidence. Sure they've collected data but the same data is interpretted about as many ways as there are scientists/new religion priests doing the interpretation.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Neither is liberalism, intelligence and integrity.

All the same can be said for the industry driven (not independent) scientists who consistently turn up data and interpretations supporting the positions of those paying their salaries.

Their PR firms are doing a good job as well. All the truth money can by.

You want to actually look at data--we are in a century long period of global warming. Spin, tweak, dance, we are. What's "religion," as you put it, is the conclusion that human activity is causing that global warming. This is a hypothesis, not a demonstrable casual link.

The concern, though, is that waiting to see will prove disastrously costly. Hence the fervor.

In the meantime, though, we have plenty of data on the dangers of air and water pollution, and don't need global warming as an additional reason to make sensible changes.

Again, no knowledge exists for you then. Convenient, since you can think and believe anything you want.

But by the same token, so can anyone else, and they wouldn't be asshats for doing it--they're just doing what you're doing.
