did Obama have his john hancock on any paperwork authorising/demanding such? no I didnt think so....

No, Lucy, probably not. President Obama doesn't like leaving a paper trail, or something. He never published, as editor of the law review at Harvard, and when he got a book deal to write about race-relations, he turned in a fictionalized autobigraphy. Not to mention all those "present," votes.

But an unsigned — and previously unattributed — 1990 article unearthed by Politico offers a glimpse at Obama's views on abortion policy and the law during his student days, and provides a rare addition to his body of work.

The six-page summary, tucked into the third volume of the year's Harvard Law Review, considers the charged, if peripheral, question of whether fetuses should be able to file lawsuits against their mothers. Obama's answer, like most courts': No. He wrote approvingly of an Illinois Supreme Court ruling that the unborn cannot sue their mothers for negligence, and he suggested that allowing fetuses to sue would violate the mother's rights and could, perversely, cause her to take more risks with her pregnancy.

From pretty damn bad, to unacceptable and stuck there?

If you're thinking of the Reagan rate, for his reelection, do keep in mind that it was a decling rate, not a stagnant one, and that Reagan was running on optimism, not fear and loathing.

Did it have his "John Hancock?" Previously unattributed? I think you are shoring up my argument, Tazzy.

Thanks!

Only you believe so, Rich. That has been common knowledge since 2008. Makes me wonder why you, and others, keep insisting he never published when he did.

Reagan has nothing to do with this... pure factual numbers do. From 10.0 to 8.2...

Of course it is only folks from your side of the aisle who feel he is running on "fear and loathing"
Certainly won't be why I cast my vote.
Of course there are some on your side of the divide who swear that what is going on is an actual attempt to tear down all that is good and exceptional about America....surely you aren't one of those folks, are you Rich ?

But he sent millions of dollars of stimulus money to China, gave a aircraft contract to a new company in Brazil, and after stopping US companies from drilling in the Gulg granted those rights to a SouthAmerican company so yes he outsourced a lot of jobs, then there is the keystone pipeline which he put the brakes on while saying he was trying to expidite it. His actions speak so loud I can't hear what he is saying.

"Tell President Obama, American tax dollars should help American taxpayers," the narrator says. Instead, $2.3 billion in tax credits funded jobs in Mexico, Finland and China, the ad claims.

We checked all three examples — and found the ad incorrectly describes them all.

Americans for Prosperity, a group dedicated to "educating citizens about economic policy" that works closely with tea party activists and has been funded by the conservative Koch family, released the ad April 26, 2012.

Here’s the string of claims, starting with an image of the president signing a bill:

Washington promised to create American jobs. We passed their stimulus. But that's not what happened. Fact: Billions of taxpayer dollars spent on green energy went to jobs in foreign countries. The Obama administration admitted the truth, that $2.3 billion of tax credits went overseas, while millions of Americans can't find a job. $1.2 billion to a solar company that's building a plant in Mexico. Half a billion to an electric car company that created hundreds of jobs in Finland. And tens of millions of dollars to build traffic lights in China.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/may/02/americans-prosperity/ad-says-stimulus-tax-credits-funded-solar-company-/

But, you stated China...

Our ruling

We watched this ad and imagined Chinese street corners with shiny new American-funded traffic lights.

The reality is nearly the opposite: American cities, counties and states bought and installed new energy-efficient street and traffic lights with stimulus grants. Many of those lights contained foreign components, including some from China, but it’s simply not clear how much stimulus money went toward those parts during the eight months it was allowed.

The ad’s claim has a tiny sliver of truth, but it pairs words and images to create an altogether different impression. We’ll have to put the brakes on this traffic light claim, and rate it Mostly False.
