FR

What a potential to be a train wreck thread. I am not going make the wise choice of choosing discretion over valour. While I agree with some parts of the message, I fully recognize that this video is aimed at being sensationalist. What I agree with;

I agree that there is a very vocal segment of the population that is opposed to the idea of male authority in pretty much all forms. That these people connotate the masculine with patriarchy and male privilege. This perception can quickly devolve into an ‘all men are the enemy’ mindset.

I agree that there is a blind eye turned towards women in the areas of violence and abuse. That as a culture we accept violence from women towards men as ‘funny’ and ‘acceptable’, but not the inverse. In some cases, we even encourage foul and violent behaviour among women in the guise of being empowered and ‘not taking shit’ (I also agree that historically men have been received similar encouragement under similar guises).

I agree that equality means equality. If you support equal rights, you don’t get to use the excuse of “because I ‘m/he's a man” or “because I’m/she's a woman” without being a hypocrite (short of bona fide medical issues).

I agree that it is now difficult as a male to stand up to accusations of inappropriate behaviour. The general consensus is that a male is guilty, regardless. I get the sense that power and freedom has been given but responsibility has not been transferred.

I think that there is now a massive disconnect and confusion on what constitutes male and (to a lesser degree) female gender identity. Some expect a pronounced classical dichotomy, while others are okay with a much more egalitarian arrangement. People entrenched in the old ways are frequently not socially compatible with people who have accepted the new.

This video sounds like it was made by someone who's let all his butthurt poison his brain. I agree that violence again men is mocked and dismissed as humorous, but that is one of the few things of worth I see in this presentation. Men shouldn't have to conform to some stereotypical idea of what constitutes masculine behavior and appearance. All the sexist Youtube comments are making me sick.

The world would go a lot smoother if people stopped giving a damn about other people's personal choices.

Very well said Carpacoma

Another thing I thought was an interesting
point in the video was how it portrayed
male children being emasculated as culturally
acceptable to the point where people are fully
"billboarding" some seriously misguided advice.

With young boys and how they're raised I
think there is a big question mark about
cause and effect here and I absolutely don't
think the video is to far from pointing out a
major problem there but comes nowhere near
hitting on a solution.

And a lot of people may not like my solution,
in I think boys need more freedom and
stronger male role models, and less "guidance"
males are strong both willfully and physically,
the quickest way to make a serial killer or social
retard is to try and berate or pervert that.

I've never seen anyone, that I view as relatively 'sane', condone 'emasculating boys'. I've not heard of one single, human, male child having his dick and balls removed.

I do agree that many boys do need better male role models. As well as more, and 'better', guidance. In fact, I believe that is a huge problem in modern day society. However, from there I am quite certain we would disagree as to what 'better male role models' are.

The last paragraph, strong, nothing more than a flood of testosterone. Channeling that energy into positive areas seems to work marvelously. Especially when coupled with 'better role models'.

Here in Quebec, i often see publicity of men being humiliated or being portrayed as being the dumbasses who does everything his girlfriend tells him to, cause he's too insecure, awkward, clumsy, idiot, dumb, to do it himself. I thought a lot about those publicities when i watched the video (part 1 and 2).

I'm hearing lots and lots of women friends here saying they'd wish the men to be more assertive, more self-confident, etc etc. Sooooooo....i'm guessing the society here wants sexes to be equal, balanced, but somehow, it doesnt know how to do it.

It's a woman, it doesnt know what it wants (aka the stereotypical joke) edited to say : oh yeah, i'm putting that one in a signature

I can provide a link from Peter Tatchell's website on the subject of machismo.

The above link to me provides a better explanation than the video.

I'm not posting this to nitpick at your comment,
This article is an interesting read and the doctors
methods for turning this boy into a girl+ the effects
are very unfortunate, but I do think it's interesting.

I'm with LaT, I don't click on links much, either.

A far as men hitting women, wtf, I'm not sure how that translates to equality. In my mind, people shouldn't hit each other, period. I'm not getting how gender plays into it, except that men are supposed to be more aggressive.

Personally, I like being the (supposedly) less violent sex.

Speaking of which, I've never expected a man not to hit me b/c I was female. I *did* tell the ex if he hit me in anger, he better kill me, b/c if he didn't I *would* kill him.

You know, the man never did hit me in anger. But I digress.

I don't need this kinda crap to prove my equality. I already know I'm equal. That I'm equal doesn't make me the same. How hard is this shit????

I agree that non-consensual violence should not be tolerated by either sex. That said, I have known chicks that slapped their man and he didn't hit them back. I feel like if you are "woman" enough to throw a punch, don't expect being a woman to save you from getting your lights knocked out.

Exactly! and that's what I was trying to say.

Just found this in my travels and found
it interesting.

I dont think its feminism that has caused men to be stupid or act stupid or unsure of themselves.. I cant easily watch the vid since my dam crappy internet connection where i am right now doesnt stream vids...

I did see the pussy whipped guys part.. why do guys put up with women nagging? cuz pussy once in a while is better than being single and not getting any.. Women that nag tho are not very bright.. they end up with a limp noodle that isnt who they fell in love with so end up despising him instead..

Did you see this ad for trojan twisters? All she had to do was say it might be a trojan twister night and he starts doing the laundry, vacuuming, doing dishes, wanting to watch disaster bride makeover on tv instead of the game, etc etc.. He is doing all that on the chance that he might get some...

I really hate that ad.. for anyone that has been lucky enough to not have seen it..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si3eUl0dXOo

Btw,.. I have been emailed by various pussy whipped dudes on this site that call themselves "Doms".. I am not fooled tho..

I tend not to bother with the link button most of the time, i just post the site addy as it is.. if people can see the source and see its youtube or some solid recognized site then maybe they will be more likely to read it.. but you are also a regular poster and imo that means you are not likely to post a link to a bad virus site..

As a general rule I do not click on links. If that offends you, then too bad. I posted based upon what others said on the subject. If that offends your delicate sensibilities, too bad.

I knew exactly what you meant by 'emasculating'. I thought it was ridiculously over dramatic.....and quite typical of the newish wave of "oh the poor men, having their masculinity ripped from their rippling abs and pec' victimization bullshit.

I demand for myself equal treatment in as much as I behave in a manner that deserves it. The law also states it is my right. If that emasculates men, then they do not deserve any power or equality with ME.

I find it unfortunate that so many men are so insecure, so weak minded, that they are threatened by the demands of equal treatment of all. I find it reassuring that so many younger men do not have these insecurities. It tells me we, as a collective, are on a right path. The screams of the weak minded are easily given the attention they deserve.

Not really. People have heard and seen this type of thing before. I already knew what was going to be in the video before I clicked on it as soon as I heard the word "feminism" enter the conversation.

How does "unnoteworthy" translate into me being
offended... Not taking the time to look at the OP link
before you went and cast judgement on peoples
comments dosen't offend me, It just means I can't
value your opinion.

"if you don't like it to bad"? "delicate sensibilities"?
We're adults...
