And the EC was in tandem with that compromise. It is set up exactly as the bicameral legislature and is dependent on it and shadows it completly. It is of the day when negros counted 3/5ths, indians nothing, and women ignored. The population basis was the tax basis and good capitalists everybody wanted to minimize that. But as has been said, every state wanted an equal voice in representation. And the constitution now allows direct and indirect taxation, so thats a flush of the toilet. And why the presidency? DUH! it is the only elected (well appointed) office 'among the several states'. Since negros (cuz thats the era, sorry all you guys with the tanning solution but you gotta be negros today) are now given a 1 man 1 vote, indians (and sorry, natives are indians today too) are given 1 man 1 vote, and women are given 1 woman one vote: The EC is as anachronistic as the arquebus, and should be abandoned. That will help us return to more Lincoln/Douglas style debates. And this day and age they can be like the town hall meetings, except the candidates of all parties, and nobody screens the participants for their party faithfulness. You're going to fret about what at most would be a combined total of 15-20 Million that might have disproportionate power in a nation of 310+ Million to the extent that you would undo a key firewall in the safeguarding of individual liberties?

Last election was slightly under 11.8 million. It is not a key firewall that safeguards individual liberties. It clearly ignores the individual, while marginalizing medium states to the sidelines, and leaves the contest to 5-6 states. It is monte carlo gaming. Pure and simple. We got the math to pick the fuck out of that lock nowadays. It fails the shit out of the individual voice and liberty.

Don't you understand,they are supposed to "play nice" as children. As adults they are supposed to do as we do.... separate completely and never,ever mingle. Culare, I did not say he was not telling the truth. I said that I had never seen it but I would be watching for it. Frankly, in my line of work it would be odd if I had. Although we had a meeting once with a man whom my boss was positive 'had extra pillowcases.'
