It probably would help! I also thought about getting some of those bandages to control shafing on the thighs.

Yeast infections=can be from overgrowth of Candida or Ph Levels being off (hormonal changes...etc). I've had issues with the lil' critters from some time..and OBGYN says it's hormonal and medications of any kind can make it worse

Some great natural cures---take Probiotics(natural bacteria that eats candida), drink Buttermilk, or a product you can get from the Health Food Store called "Candistroy"....all of them worked for me at some time. Stay away from Drug Stores, etc...cleanse the body
Best wishes!

Have you thought about using injectable or topical steroids?

Yeah, I think the bandages are worth a shot.  At least with those, there's no side effects to worry about, and if they work, then you're set and if they don't, you try something else

I also do wipe downs during the day randomly.  wiping up when you're only a little bit sweaty is a lot better than trying to manage it once you're in full swing of being sticky.

If you go see a doctor, they can do an injectable steroid that will prevent the sliminess while drying out the condition.

FelinePersuasion, I get the same problem in summer.  Since you have gone to a doctor over this probably dozens of times *as I have* I won't say that, lol.  What works for me is very simple; I use triple antibiotic ointment.

Back to the original subject...
I'm chronic for vaginal yeast and bacterial overgrowth, and as soon as I stop the prescription given to me by a doctor, the next day it's back.  Btw, even doctors will tell people to do "home remedies" like yogurt applications and douching when their own bag of tricks have failed.  My current gyn told me to do a daily vinegar and water douche, then told me to stop when it got worse.  My family doc had me using Metro every time I came to her...back then, I was trying hard to get rid of it and went 2-3 times per month.  Anyway, when I read the fine print, the stuff said it could give cancer in the vagina.  I haven't used it since.

I have AZO Yeast pills in front of me now, and plan to get cranberry and acidophilus.  I thought cranberry was only for UTI's, but am willing to try anything...well, not quite anything...I wouldn't try Draino or kerosene

Btw, long time ago, I read that some men can carry yeast in their ejaculate and be asymptomatic, and that only a wet mount would detect it.  If I had a partner and kept getting a yeast infection after sex, and the topical treatments for him didn't work, I'd have the doctor check this out.

Anyone else ever have save sex with a condom, then see the guy scratchin afterward and saying that he has "jock itch"?  Holy cow, that was the worst yeast infection I've ever had in my life...

Ty for sharing info. :)

And apologies to those I may have given TMI.

I was first told back in 1996 by a doctor here in Chicago that my re-occoring yeast infections were due to my partner. Dragged him to the doctor kicking and screaming got a little cream and I never had a problem with yeast.

Now  . . .10 years later new partner who also happens to be diabetic.
(well not exactly a partner we didn't have sex) I am wondering if the male partner having diabetes has anything to do with it for me.  I guess it's the same as me having it if we are intimate ? It seems that why.Someone needs to include articles in those mens magazines about yeast.
I mean being 25 and telling a 63 year old that he gave you a yeast infection from all that damn rubbing aganist you is not an easy one.

I get recurrent YI; here are some of my experiences:

If you go with over-the-counter, DO NOT get a one-day treatment: I did that once, and had burning and itching for an entire month. It was so bad that I would use Cortisone cream, and take Benadryl before going to bed, and still wake up in the middle of the night with intense pain and itching, and have to take a sitz bath and then apply more cream to allow me to fall back asleep again. It was horrible. I went to the doctor, and she said there was nothing she could give me to help.

I use AZO Yeast (which I get at Long's Drugs), and it has worked in the past, but I currently have one that's fighting back pretty hard, so I might have to go to the Doc to get Diflucan. When I use AZO, I have my partner take it too, so he doesn't re-infect me.

I have also used a douche of about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a quart of water, which has helped in the past, but now I am using Nuva Ring birth control, and don't want to risk messing up its effectiveness.

The (7-day) cream is so gross & slimy that I don't like using it as per instructions, but it does help to stop the itching if you rub a dab onto your labia.

I will definitely have to try acidophilus pills, too.

taking Probiotic Acidopholus pills is the single greatest thing I ever did; I never got another yeast infection from anything (even the strongest antibiotics) and it helped with any digestive problems. My gyno recommended them and I get them from Whole Foods.

She did say, however, NEVER DOUCHE. Very bad for you.

I have gotten yeast infections from fingering.  We have played on the carpet a few times and unless its vacummed directly before hand its possible to get something in the vaginal area and will cause infection.  Not something I enjoyed it hurt alot.   The yougurt idea is a good one.

No offense, but i think the best advice is to go see a doctor and get an educated treatment.... There are free clinics everywhere if you do not have money...

Generally very good advice...

But in the area of non traditional problems like yeast and fungal infections, doctors can actually make things worse...there was a Mayo clinic (IIRC) study a few years ago on how many non-bacterial infections had been made worse by doctors just going through the motions of prescribing antibiotics.

Which leaves people in the position of sifting though all the quackery out there like homeopathic remedies, to get to useful non-pharmaceutical advice, like the yogurt cultures, etc.

Also, there are yeast reducing diets, staying away from smoked meats, mushrooms, and sugars, that may help...good luck getting your average MD to learn about nutritional remedies.
