DC, I will keep you in my prayers.

dcnovice -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 9:56:01 AM)

Warmest thanks to you all! I appreciate everyone's kindness, both here and via cmail, and I apologize for being slow to respond.

All I can say is it's been a wild ride. After all sorts and conditions of scans, biopsies, poking, and prodding, I appear to be the proud owner of not one but two cancers.

The primary malignancy is a hefty tumor in my rectum, a few centimeters away from the exit. I call this MiMA, a trying-too-hard-to-be-hip acronym (based on MoMA) for "the mass in my ass." Getting MiMA out of my tailpipe without permanent loss of bowel control promises to be a major challenge.

Head north a bit to my mid-abdomen, and you'll come to a spot of lymphoma. This malignancy, which I have not yet named, appears to have developed independently of dear old MiMA. The silver lining in this new discovery is that, as lymphomas go, this one isn't so bad--slow-growing and not terribly aggressive. Sometime next week, I'll go for a bone marrow biopsy to learn if the lymphoma has spread.

So please keep those prayers and good wishes coming! And again, many thanks.

To be honest, I am too!

If I'd read this plot twist in a novel, I'd have snarled "Yeah, right!" just before hurling the book across the room. Even the doc seems to be thinking, "Seriously?"

Is it inappropriate if I saw "Aw, shit!!!!" (?)

I'm so sorry! [:o]

There but for the grace of whomever go all of us. I wish you all the best!

Bastard!

and something i found very helpful was a pair of Hulk hands. You can beat the snot out of a wall and do no damage to it. Very satisfying.

Not at all. Particularly in the case of MiMA. [:)]

Baroana -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 10:29:37 AM)

Hugs!!! Stay strong!

Notsweet -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 10:58:35 AM)

MiMA! Beautiful.

You know all those people who say, "If there's anything I can do?" Take advantage of that.
So....if you're actually in DC, I'm not too far away. Anything I can do?

Level -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 11:32:38 AM)

I'm sorry dc :-(

My mom just had tumors taken from her colon and bladder, and she's doing well; it CAN be beat, my friend.

angelikaJ -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 11:42:53 AM)

dc,

You are and will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 7:08:35 PM)

I have been burning the blue candles for you, man. I need to stock up again soon.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 8:01:28 PM)

You have my best wishes in fixing up your "tailpipe" and I hope your future diagnosis are all good.

At the moment my "lifeline" is the assurance of the surgeon I met on Friday that the cancer is "treatable" and "not a death sentence."

I'm sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier, DC. Good luck with it all. It sounds as though there's fair room for hope.

Muttling -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/16/2013 11:10:47 PM)

Best wishes and cyber hugs my friend.

So tomorrow brings a bone-marrow biopsy to determine whether Mini-Mi (the lymphoma) has spread beyond its initial location. I'm hoping not, since it's an "indolent" lymphoma apparently happy to mind its malignant business while we slay MiMA, the greater threat, first.

Many thanks for the prayers, posts, and cmails! I appreciate them all. [:)]

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Got Prayers? (Or Good Wishes?) (2/21/2013 2:00:10 AM)

My thoughts are with you for good news tomorrow. Will you get the results quickly or are you in for a long wait?

Your post has prompted me to contact the bone marrow registry and make sure my donor details are up to date. I'm really hoping to get that call some day.
