I find that it doesn't matter whether it's whole wheat or white pasta. It still seems to have a really bad effect on me.

I was watching Dr Oz last week and he had a Dr Davis on that has a no wheat diet.. he wrote "Wheat Belly" & Wheat belly Cookbook".. he says that todays wheat is different from wheat of yesteryear, its now genetically manipulated frankenfood!.. maybe you should see if your library has the book and see if what he suggests would work for you.. He was saying that people that follow his no wheat diet eat about 400+ less calories/day and can lose up to 15 lbs in the first month.. I just heard about this so I have yet to try it myself but I do want to find the book (once i can get a library card here) & try it.. his book has 4-1/2 stars from readers on amazon

GM grains aren't allowed to be used in the UK food chain - it's been outlawed.
The only GM crops grown here are used for scentific and other uses.
And, AFAIK, they don't allow the import of GM food crops either.

You could always order one of those Ice Cream Magic things and make some organic ice cream or even use almond milk instead of reg. organic milk. :)

or.. just buy a yonanas which makes a frozen ice cream-like dessert with frozen bananas and/or other frozen fruit.. some people can do that with a good food processor too, apparently.. you do need a machine with a strong motor.. You cant get any healthier than that tho,.. imo..

Do you have to 'buy' through your Kindle to get it for free? I don't see on Amazon that it's free...

I know for ME my appetite is tied to my hormones, stress, and emotions a great deal.

I also realize that before my parastroy and detox I craved certain foods and don't now as well as certain foods had a specific affect on me that they don't have now.

I eat a lot of fruit.. Watermelon, muskmelon, oranges, and bananas. I crave watermelon. Actually I've been craving grilled corn on the cob and watermelon a lot lately. I find that as long as we don't keep sugar in the house I really don't crave it.

However, lately my husband has been buying those light sour cream and onion pringles. I've been eating those with greek yogurt cream cheese. Bad, bad, bad, bad habit although both are low in fat and calories. I've just been hungrier. I love carrots and cottage cheese. This weekend was bad because it was my mom's birthday and I was doing the cooking. So I had two slices of pecan pie and some bacon wrapped scallops. A little splurge on my part. For the most part I really can't eat unhealthy food out, it makes me sick to my stomach.

All in all I've been staying within my calories, but it's time to kick the weight loss into higher gear and work on being as healthy as possible should we get pregnant. I'm going to shoot for fish or shrimp at least 2x's a week and a lot more leafy greens and more quinoa.

Hormones definitely play a huge part, but I've gotten really good at curbing the stress eating. I've only had one slip up. I'm so good during the week, but on weekends when my husband doesn't work it's terrible. WE don't eat regularly, then I get really hungry and it's not good.

Have you tried doing green smoothies? You just need a little bit of fruit to make it sweet and mask the flavor of the greens. It does a lot to quench my craving for sweets.

I've been blending before investing in a juicer...some are so damn expensive. I use frozen no sugar added fruit (3 or 4 strawberries, a small handful of blueberries and a frozen banana), with 2 cups of water and two ginormous handfuls of spinach. Blend the fruit and water first then toss in the spinach and it blends smooth and creamy. My energy level has skyrocketed since I started doing these in the morning.

There is some debate over losing the benefits of fiber when you juice. So far I've been happy with blending.

on the other hand, some juicer enthusiasts say that juicing releases the most vitamins and enzymes (& some juicers are better than others for that).. its hard to know which way to go but I tend to agree with you, blending is a better way cuz of the fiber, you still get lots of the vitamins and enzymes.. especially with stuff like spinach which is not so easy to juice.. They say you should get 25gms of fiber a day, which in todays fast-food world is pretty hard to get.. so blending would help with that a lot...

I used to make a protein shake using frozen blueberries, frozen banana chunks, hemp protein powder, ground flax seed, fish oil, some liquid if needed and it would come out thick, cold and creamy like soft ice cream.. I used a Bullet for that.. there is a Nutribullet out now with a 600watt motor...

I just brought up the amazon kindle top 100 free books and downloaded it to my kindle. It was the kindle version that was free. If you are looking for an actual book version, that's not free. I think I answered your question, not sure. They change hourly, so it might not be free anymore. I'm not sure how that works really.

Yay!

I did my measurements this morning and I lost 3 inches on my waist and 2 on my hips.

I see and know my body looks different but when I see it in pictures or videos.
Wow!

Athena,
I am, the weight loss has always been a bonus to me.
I simply wanted to get healthy.
I needed to get healthy.

It's strange though, even though I see myself in the mirror, see the measurements and how my clothes fit when I see a picture of me now vs a year ago when I started this journey. Heck a month ago. It's shocks me.

You answered. I usually buy the kindle versions via Amazon and use the Kindle iPad app. I'll check it out now.

Thanks!

I don't really have an opinion as to which is better. I blend for 2 reasons 1. I hate single use kitchen appliances 2. I'm too cheap to get a juicer when the blending works for me.
