If this stupid statement doesn't get him off the show then another one in the future will. But that won't shut him up. There will always be some idiot out there who will want to invite him on their show and in the mean time he will be kicking back enjoying the billions he has already made.

No doubt.

still, the genre is dying

I wonder if it's just the genre, or the entire medium?

I listen to talk radio, because I usually prefer it to music when I'm driving, and the options are rather limited in my area. When I lived in Columbus, I would listen to sports talk radio. But the only other person I know who listens to political talk radio is my dad.

This is quite insightful - I think things have moved to the Internet. There are probably a lot of very active conservative websites. Young people today do not really "listen to the radio" the way we did when we were younger. And that means they probably listen to less radio even as they get older.

Conservatism is certainly not dying out in the country as evidenced by Sanford's election in SC. The ridiculous rhetoric is still out there, but probably just not on the radio....

The thing about Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, etc, as well as their counterparts on the other side of the spectrum (yes, there is such a thing as left-wing talk radio, you just don't see it lambasted as often, due to its detractors having little interest in decrying it when not listening is so much simpler) is that they honestly don't care whether you listen because you agree or vehemently disagree with what they say. Even the question of whether they themselves believe what they say is irrelevant. They are not in the business of bringing "truth" or "balance" or any other such prosaic concepts to anyone. They are in the business of MAKING MONEY. What they say means nothing; it is whether or not anyone will pay (in the form of advertising revenue) to listen to them, for any reason.

The much maligned world of professional wrestling probably said it best when noting that the higher ups really didn't care about whom the fans cheered nor booed, "so long as there was an ass every 18 inches" (in the form of paid attendance.)

Actually, when you get right down to it, pro-wrestling, with its "designated" heroes and villains, and the same people profiting off of the works of both, is a damn apt metaphor for the two-party system in general.

Actually....there is no "counterpart" on the left.....to rush, beck, drudge, jones etc.....

Notice folks that there`s no examples given......and usually aren`t given because there are no bat-shit-crazy leftwing talk shows who pander to our bigots,knuckle-draggers and conspiracy loony-birds.

The right wing talk show/news business model is/was based on bombast, fake outrage over straw men, wild accusation and extremist-rightist-bigoted propaganda.....

It`s been long known and often shown/pointed out, that straight, boring fact based news/opinion doesn`t sell as much advertisements as the wild-sexy-crazy-loony-nutty does...

When rush`s show was there dirty little secret...he and his fans could get away with it b/c no one knew about it....for the most part.

Maybe he`s a victim of his own success or perhaps it`s social media kicking ass.....but the secret`s out.....

I love the loser-cons blaming rush`s failures on the broadcasters.....like they have anything to do with it....Since when do rightist blame the company for a worker`s bad performance.......?

Ooh that`s right......they do that when a righty is fucking up

I say good riddance to Rush Limbaugh and everyone who followed in his footsteps. How many factually false attacks or flat out cheap shots has he made that he's been allowed to return from? Particularly noxious in the Philly area was his 2003 cheap shot at Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. And then he gets a pass on that one because he claimed to be hooked on pain pills! Regrettably, I have been subjected to his show on other occasions and have discovered that he is a raving racist and I have no tolerance for such people. Meanwhile, Doug "The Greaseman" Tracht had his whole career pulled out from under him for a single admittedly racist comment and hasn't been heard since.

What did Limbaugh say that was racist? That the media wanted a black QB to do well and that they pumped up McNabb even though it was the defense that carried the team? THAT is racist? Limbaugh didn't make any claim that McNabb was or wasn't anything based on the color of his skin. Limbaugh was claiming that the media, if anything, was acting in a racially discriminating manner, pumping up McNabb solely because of the color of his skin.

How is it that exposing others acting in a racist manner is racist? Is it because the media was making positive claims to a minority? McNabb had his time and was a very good QB. Phillie has been known for their D for a gawd-awful long time.

Your hatred for Rush is clouding your judgment.

Interesting side note: My spell check wanted to replace Limbaugh with Limberger. How appropriate!

That is fucking hilarious!!

The really funny thing about that incident was that the guy who got most upset had, a few weeks earlier, stated that the only reason Jason Seahorn was playing at all was because he was white (he played corner and later safty) and nobody thought that was racist.

Yup.....boring.....I know.

The left`s bias is sunlight and what`s real.

Why do you think rightist media has dominated AM talk radio.....the b-movies of media?Because rush is high minded and civil?

As we can see....no examples of left wing talk show extremists/nuts......just some mistaken hope that pretending the right and left are the same, makes it so.

Any left wingers advising their listeners to shoot police in the face or groan....like Gordon Liddy?

Any lefties doing stuff like this kookie-guy nun-nutter here:

"D.C. Police Chief Reacts to Gun Nut’s Threat to March in Washington with Loaded Weapons"

http://aattp.org/d-c-police-chief-reacts-to-gun-nuts-threat-to-march-in-washington-with-loaded-weapons-video/

There are thousands of hours of rush`s dark ugly brain farts we can show......and hundred of rightie-pikers like that ass wipe "malitia" creep .....trying to be rush.

beck,drudge,hanity,etc......the examples are countless and real(as in reality)

Yet few if none at all on the left.......

There really is a difference between partys and between the mindsets.

They might argue John Stewart, but John Stewart knows he's an entertainer and not a news man.

Stewart doesn`t lie...or have to or make shit up.

He doesn`t have to....the news, what happened and what people said is his material.

He`s the antidote to the bullshit.......the comic relief, after getting our intelligence insulted.

What I meant by counterpart, was a counterpart to the dirt-bag/lunatic/titillating/lying media types.....like rush.

There aren`t any on the left or in main stream media.

beck and jones and the like are wild clown acts with dire warnings and threats and fear and hate, as entertainment.

Stewart received a great compliment by fuxnews today....blaming him for helping to cover up the Benghazi story......

OMG how Freudian does it get?......

On one hand, the righties can`t get anyone to drink their cool-aid(there`s no there, there) and fume that a comic mocks them and their impotence......

First let me say, I do not consider Rush to be a conservative, he is too bizarre for 90% of the right.

Secondly, I doubt Rush will ever be off the air. I have it on good authority that the same people that cloned Dolly the sheep made six dozen clones of Rush, and they are hooked up with a device that transmits all of his thoughts to their brains so if Rush died, the next clone would be able to start up were the original left off.

As for Glen Beck, he has such a warp view of Christian values and priorities that God is not going to take him, and he is doing such a good job, Satan made him immortal. He can only be killed if his head is cut off while Queen is playing background music.

You mean he's a Cylon?

Rush does what he does because it's made him money, plain and simple. He learned how to create a brand (himself) and work it for every penny's worth. I don't like him nor do I dislike him. Sometimes he's funny, is a weird way. Other times, I have to turn off the radio. His replacements are already in place anyway, he's got another trophy wife, and he'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Maybe because it's part and parcel with the brand he's created for himself? Gotta stay in character to make the money.
