Either Romney was not the best candidate available and the question is why didn't someone more able run and beat Obama or Romney was the best Republican available and the question is then how did he lose to a so called amateur? So which is it?

He got less than 1% of the primary votes cast.

Because the rest were what the GOP were banking on. Huntsman got very little national attention.
