Sure,... by "leaks" and "whistle blowers!"
What was it that Richard Milhaus Obama said about "whistle blowers" just a few short years ago? i bet You Tube has something on that, something about how vital they are to a "free society!"
Odd that, I'm feeling less and less free these days.
So what do you think the next scandal will be?
Something about social security or HUD?

Lucylastic -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 9:11:05 AM)

How much transparency do you expect?
Are you prepared for stuff you wont like?
What will you do with the information?
Can you handle REAL transparency or just your Medias "version" Since when did you trust the government to tell you the truth anyway?
You want official secrets>? security? crime? health? financial? all of it?

Real0ne -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 9:11:54 AM)

they are transparent, that is not the problem.

the problem is syntax terrorism where words are given different meanings to misdirect the publics understanding and never with full disclosure or a guarantee of no mission creep in a manner that is sue-able.

the most obvious example that should hit everyone square across the head is the word exterminate.

How it was used and how it is used today. These fraudulent tactics are used against the inhabitants of this nation as a matter of course.

Tell me Taz, are in you favor of secret government? Secret laws? Dubya putting nuke plans on the net and clinton selling them to the chinese.

Tell us what you think a PUBLIC OFFICE should be authorized to be kept secret from the public they serve?

quote:

"The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know." ~JFK

How could one possibly answer that? To do so would require knowing, thus defeating your question at the outset.

tazzygirl -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 10:06:47 AM)

Not at all. Of course there are things I dont want to know. You cant think of anything?

jlf1961 -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 10:11:48 AM)

I cant but think this was invented for the US government.

quote:

This invisibility cloak creates a hole in time

Another day, another invisibility cloak. Only this one is special because it can reportedly mask the appearance of time.

What does that even mean? It might be helpful to imagine the bus-scene gimmick in Speed in which the cops use a short loop of camera footage of all the passengers sitting still to fool Dennis Hopper into thinking everything is going his way, when in actuality, Keanu Reeves is helping everyone escape. The invisibility cloak illusion is kind of like that.

The cloaking technique, created by scientists at Purdue University, manipulates the speed of light in optical fibers to create what is ostensibly a gap in time in which any activity is left undetected, BBC News reports. If you wove enough of these fibers together into a cloak, you could theoretically rob a bank or pick your nose, and it'd be as if nothing was happening to anyone around you.\

what does what you dont feel like knowing have to do with secret government?

I cant think of anything, your turn.

Again, you have not answered my question.

Im waiting.

NO

there satisfied?

tazzygirl -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 10:41:58 AM)

Yes, thank you.

I disagree.

For example, do we need to know the access code for nuclear warheads?

No.

Do we need to know what is on your tax returns? I doubt you file.. but you get the point.

No.

Do we need to know where every CIA and FBI agent are in the world?

No.

Do we need to know the account numbers and bank locations for all the accounts held by every politician?

No.

Do we need to know the social security number of the marine who holds Obama's umbrella?

No.

There are lots of things we dont need to know.

truckinslave -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 10:42:07 AM)

So the plans for D-Day should have been published?

DomKen -> RE: Transparency? (6/10/2013 10:50:47 AM)

FR
The fact is not a single thing, except the names of the programs, was not public knowledge before these "revelations." The NSA was specifically created to intercept electronic communications so why is it a surprise that that is what they're doing?

Why not? The government bought 1/2 of them!
