Uh, not just no but hell no.
This is because the race-baiters had to turn a simple act of self-defence into a cause celebre to try to make themselves appear relevant and raise some more money from fools.

If Zimmerman argues self defense he loses on the facts so he best not try it.

Though I do have to give you credit for having the chutzpah to call someone else a race baiter.

They are arguing self defense.

And so far, making the prosecution look pretty bad in the process.

Then the prosecution is wholly ignorant. Defense against what...a rather smallish unarmed 17 yr old boy ? Please that's a good one.

That's like the cop called to a rear-ender where the car rear-ended is driven by a black. Even in the forum he's already been described as a thug and based on no evidence of that at all.

Officer says " So how fast was the N... going when he backed into you ?"

That 17 year old boy was very well muscled, and an experienced fighter (such that one of his friends implored him by text to stop fighting so much).

One of Trayvon's texts discussed how he didn't get enough blood from the guy he beat, and was going back for more.

Raiikun -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (6/27/2013 3:27:50 PM)

This is the Trayvon that George met BTW:

The Prosecution's case is actually going FOR Zimmerman rather than AGAINST him. :-)

In other news, "creepy-ass cracker" is not an offensive racial comment.
West: “You don’t think that’s a racial comment?”
    Jeantel: “No.”

West: “You don’t think calling someone a creepy-ass cracker is offensive?”
    Jeantel: “No.”
Well alrighty then, that settles that.

K.

And she went on to say that people in her community call white people that all the time.
Yeah...that settles that indeed.
Nothing to see hear. Move on.

And then tried to claim Trayvon doesn't call white people that...after testifying that he did.

Exactly. And, she was closest "eye-witness" to the altercation yet didn't actually see the altercation, didn't identify Trayvon as the person who was screaming "Help", and didn't call 911 after she heard the gun shot because she thought it was just another fight (unwittingly implying that she knew Trayvon had a history of fighting).

Lost interest have they?

No. It is up to jury and judge now, not to any of us.

They haven't proven that Zimmerman was racial profiling but they have proven (to the extent she can be believed ) that Martin was.

Phydeaux -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (6/27/2013 5:18:39 PM)

No, I find it rather beneath fair debate.

Trayvon was *bigger* than george zimmerman.
Zimmerman had extensive collection of bumps and bruises and a broken nose. Other than the bullet that killed him, did zimmerman have *any* injuries? Doubt it.

Its sad that Trayvon was a brutal thug. But thats what he was. And frankly, zimmerman did us a favor by taking him out of the gene pool before he beat up somoene else, or required us to arrest and house him.

Then he goes to jail for life. A fist fight with an unarmed teenager in which he was not even bruised is never going to produce a reasonable fear of imminent death which is required for a self defense argument.

Almost everyone native to Georgia and Florida calls white people crackers. It isn't a racial epithet.

Wendel27 -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (6/27/2013 5:28:24 PM)

DomKen I appreciate there have been a vast number of facts reported about this case with embellishments and outright lies in some instances on both sides...but as far as I am aware Mr. Zimmerman suffered fairly extensive injuries to his cranium including a broken nose and abrasions and lacerations to the back of his head. If that's right then that could be quite enough for a case of self defence.

BamaD -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (6/27/2013 5:31:06 PM)

He had lacerations on the back of his head and a broken nose.

He claimed a broken nose but failed to ever go to the hospital for treatment. He had a very minor cut on the back of his head that the EMT's on the scene felt didn't even require a dressing or butterfly stitch. That is no where near enough to claim he feared his imminent death from an unarmed teenager.

Almost everyone, eh? And those who do use it in the sense that your links describe are employing it to refer to white people generally, eh? Well at least it's always amusing when your references contradict your claims. Not to mention, of course, that we all know Trayvon was using the word innocently in recognition of the Zimmerman family having lived in Florida for many generations.

I was just about to leave and look for something funny on TV, but damn, some nights you just can't beat CM.

Wendel27 -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (6/27/2013 5:42:36 PM)

I've seen pictures that showed a great deal of blood coming from his nose and it looked heavily swollen...though possibly it had been broken for I don't know. The severity of the injury received is not what determines if a claim of self defence is justified or not it is the level of reasonable fear felt. If the reports of Mr. Martin atop Mr. Zimmerman hitting him in the head are true [and i'm not saying that they are] then a plea of self defence is quite reasonable. If you are lying down and someone is punching you in the head any one of those blows has the potential to be lethal or life altering.

Once again you are claim that he had to wait till he couldn't defend himself to do so.
It is FEAR of imminent injury, not having sustained such, why is this concept so hard.

Go down to rural Georgia or Florida and ask around or not and continue to be wrong.

it is a reasonable fear not just fear. That means a rational person's reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm. He clearly fails.

''it is a reasonable fear not just fear. That means a rational person's reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily harm. He clearly fails.''

Based on what i've read of the case I don't think it's fair to say he clearly fails.

How did Zimmerman get his gun out of his waistband and shoot Martin in the chest if Martin was sitting on his chest pummeling him on the head? Why was Zimmerman not drenched in Martin's blood after having shot him in the chest while Martin was on top of him?
