Status: offline 		Personally, I bet he walks, Florida will erupt in riots, after two days of chaos, the Governor will ask for federal assistance in quelling the anarchy, Obama will use the riots as an excuse to recall all US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, and then he will deploy a few hundred thousand troops in Florida after declaring nation wide martial law.

Wait that is what some right wing ultra extremists would predict..

But this guy is gonna walk and all hell will break loose.

And ironically, that law has no bearing on this case. It is a traditional self defense case, covered by law older than most of the state legislators.

Status: offline 		Not trying to start a gun law debate, but the idea behind the stand your ground law is sound, the problem is that the way most are written, you can answer any threat with deadly force.

Admittedly, Texas is considering such a law, but I prefer the current self defense laws, deadly force can only be used when faced with a life or death threat.

The idea that you can kill someone who is unarmed, is a bit far fetched, I mean why did he have to shot to kill? From the pictures of the victim, he did not appear to be the Hulk, King Kong, or Conan the Barbarian. Actually, he appeared to be of a stature that if you used a parachute attached to his arms and legs you could make a kite.

Personally, in the two instances where my house was broken into, between the dogs and the fact I had a gun, basically I detained them till the cops arrived.

The only problem arose when one of them tried to sue me for having a dangerous dog. Yeah Princess bit him, drew blood, but he had just entered the house through a window.

The case was thrown out, but I was ordered to put up a "beware of dog" sign.

Early pictures released of the victim showed him at an earlier, more boyish age. Deliberately, I think. Don't be fooled.
