After the departure of the unlamented Mod XI the P&R board was pretty much left alone by the mods for quite a while. When Alpha took over we started getting modded again and the rules have tightened up considerably over the last 6 months or so.

I actually feel bad for the mods here, we're a bunch of sadistic contrarian sorts and we like to argue so this subforum must be a quagmire for them.

What I have learned is that the Mods are not the problem, it's the poster's who complain to the MODs. If I don't like someone else's post, I've always figured it's my job to deal with it. I have never reported another poster, and I am miffed that posters in the Zimmerman threads would be reporting others. Its like jumping into a pool and complaining you get wet. And, also, I agree w/you that politics and religion is a bit more open season and the participants should know this going in and shouldn't be whining to the overseers for help.

I would not want any moderators wasting their time trying to "clean up" a Zimmerman thread. I may have to rethink my participation.

A gentle reminder, please get back on topic everyone. Thank you.

This is the topic, Alpha.

I'm sure we'll all be happy to get back to Zimmerman, as soon as one of the threads gets unlocked...

When people see that some posts were yanked for offenses that were allowed to stand in other threads, they complain that the Mods are corrupt, biased, and generally unsavory examples of human beings. Whereupon, of course, it is explained for the zillionth time that the Mods are only volunteers who are doing their best, that they are not salaried staff who are paid to watch the site 24/7 reviewing every post, and that violations need to be reported. Then, when people report violations, the whining starts about debate being stifled.

Sometimes I think I could make a fortune selling diapers around here.

According to the MOD with knowledge, you nailed it. I never would have guessed this -- but now I know. Now I'm kind of obsessing over who the complainer's are.

Getting miffed over post reports seems like an odd use of energy, but to each his own.

Fast Reply: I was incorrect about getting on topic tis true, I saw the title and thought might have been changed. I confess I did not read the 8 pages in total, just the few posts before I posted. My bad

Actually at one point the subject line was changed but that was only to change it from Quite to Quit.

Since no other mod had said they had a problem with anything in that thread, and in fact zero warnings had been received (and no posts had been removed from that thread, in spite of your claims to the contrary

I was training Rho that day and instructed her to send that Final Warning. A total of 31 posts were removed from one of the threads in question.

Look people, somebody is always going to complain because they got butt hurt. The reason is simple, civilized, intelligent debate is a lost art, when people disagree anymore, instead of attacking the statement, it is easier to attack the people making the statement.

The only reason that this forum has not broken down into utter chaos is the mods, and the fact we are not all in the same room where weapons in the form of chairs, bottles, glasses or tables are available.

We used to have a poster who would do that before he got banned.
From what I was able to see, he would send upwards of a dozen tickets/day at times.

(don't ask how I was able to see)

Not one single post of mine was removed, because not one single post of mine came even close to a rules violation. And how do you send a final warning to an individual, without any before it, and then suspend posting privileges immediately, while refusing to say what the violation was?

That leaves the appearance that this is a clear cut case of someone using their new mod powers to get back at people who had disagreed with them as a member.

The "final warning" thing seems to be something that happens when Mods are being trained. They get a wee tad overexhuberant. It has happened to me as well and amazingly enough, the post the warning referred to was something that isn't even mentioned in TOS, much less prohibited.
Typically, the new modster will learn a bit more about what actually is and is not in TOS and calm down a bit.

There is a lot not mentioned in the TOS. I, being a supergenius, am mentally handicapped and one of these handicaps is that I can hardly read any law text such as the TOS. I have read them at least twice and I hope to never read them again.

Apparently, it is not allowed to suggest that some non-specific people may be mentally handicapped. (Ironically, someone with the nick Crazy took offense at that. )
"The truth is not a defense" one mod once or twice wrote me.

As some of you know, the primary reason I came to this website was to study your (and mine) minds after one of my friends, a slave, got murdered.
