Ok, I get it. I shouldn't have made a list of names and I can see how it may have seemed like I was putting them on a petistal though that was not my intention. It was a dumb way to start the post and I apologize as I should have just said *give it up guys* "it's like talking to an empty room" and left it at that. I still stand by the point I was making and the list of quotes speaks for itself.

Thank you for that much. Most wouldnt admit that.

If you want it sugar coated, dont ask me what i think! It would violate TOS.

Maybe not at the moment but I won't get into it all. The only possible scenario that I can think of where Zim murdered TM is TM began to cease pummeling Zim, maybe because Zim pulled his weapon, and just as TM was getting off of Zim, Zim shot him because he was pissed that he just got his ass beat. If that's what happened we'll never know but at this point there is enough doubt in my mind that if I'm on the jury I would vote to acquit.

Normally, I don't think changing the title of a thread should be allowed. In fact; I think it should be a TOS violation but I just can't look at the extra "E" on "Quit", anymore.

I apologize for my CDO, people.

LOL! I try to leave my red pen at work, but I noticed that too.

Thank you, glad I'm not the only one.

I did that once and didn't know I was allowed to change it, got to were I couldn't look at my own thread.

Don't know what browser you're using but explorer just added spellcheck. It has made my spelling a lot more consistent and I don't have to rush back in and edit a post as often.

I dont believe Z killed him in cold blood. I do think it was a heat of the moment thing, it got out of hand. Had honesty been the policy, I doubt so many people would be so divided over this case.

I just hope the Judge offers other options for consideration.

Typically, a DA will "Overcharge" in order to try to obtain a plea bargain prior to a trial and if it still goes to trial, in virtually all felony cases (and many misdemeanors) the judge will give the jury an option to convict on lesser charges.

ETA. When this whole thing started, I was thinking negligent homicide.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. It was all public information based on your experience on the CMMB. I considered it observational.

Whereupon, of course, it is explained for the zillionth time that the Mods are only volunteers who are doing their best, that they are not salaried staff who are paid to watch the site 24/7 reviewing every post, and that violations need to be reported. Then, when people report violations, the whining starts about debate being stifled.

None of this explains the hastily edited posts that have been reported or tickets that just "vanish". In fact, in the case of the "vanishing tickets" it would kind of support that the admins are doing something . Certainly, I can't make a ticket vanish.

I have never denied that moderators aren't volunteers. I will continue to deny that they are un-biased and that they magically aren't susceptible to the same human frailties that haunt us all.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Deep breath, Michael. Protecting the stupid from having their shit rammed back into their faces is a time consuming and thankless job, and a site full of sadists certainly needs to be covered in bubblewrap...

The real issue with moderation here is -- and always has been -- the lack of transparency and oversight. It happens in a black-box, and that undercuts any possible trust.

I've been a moderator for a little over a month. If those things did indeed take place, they took place before my time, but yet, I still get bashed for them.

And to put something in perspective: I cleaned up a ticket from someone that I had previously put on moderation (and received page after page of hate mail) complaining that s/he was tired of Mods protecting the special ones. When in fact, the person he claimed was protected, had also been put on moderation by me the very same week as ticket maker. (And again with page after page of hate mail) The irony was epic.

That said, I will apologize about the first Zimmerman thread. It is locked due to me. After spending 8 hours of reading that thread and trying to get some work done, I was still not through all 66 pages. So, it remained locked while I spent the holiday with my family, as they are my priority.

While you may not believe it, I put a great deal of effort into trying to be fair. I have modded people that I consider friends. We receive massive amounts of hate mail, some from people we consider friends under our regulars nicks.

We are not allowed to speak for the site. We have been given the rules and are expected to follow them. But, I'm also happy to explain a decision as long as I'm not approached with hostility.

We are not infallible and I can honestly say that I volunteered to do this to attempt to help, not harm. While the claim has been made that it happens in a black box, the opposite is also true. There are things that get said to us, simply because we are anonymous.

I read the complaint threads with the hope that I can find a way to keep the balance while in this role. A little return courtesy of putting yourselves in my shoes would be greatly appreciated.

Overall, I think this is a great forum with many different views represented and a great deal of experiences to share.

Whereas I appreciate the elucidation, I do recommend the mods to not familiarize themselves with us commoners.

I can't make tickets vanish either and don't know what you mean. Please CMail me with details and I'll try to figure out what's going on and if I can't will send the issue to Alpha.

I know I reported a post once (about a month ago) and the post was edited before the moderator could get to it. Excellent timing, there.

I've also had tickets just simply "disappear". Nothing nefarious, of course. It's just coincidence.

Bullshit! There's not that much coincidence on the planet.

Posters have an hour to edit their posts. Here's what likely happened:

1. Poster1 writes something inflammatory
2. Poster2 reports it
3. Within an hour after writing the post, Poster1 thinks better of the post and edits it
4. Hours later moderator gets to the ticket, does not see a violation and notices that the post has been edited. Moderator writes to Poster2 and says "I don't see a violation but notice that the post has been edited."
