You are wrong, he is no more of a racist than you.

Yeah well, you may be giving him too much credit. I am deeply suspicious of these people who see things that aren't there. I believe that they see them, and I believe that those things are somewhere, but when they're not in the "other guy" there's only one place left.

I'm sorry but I would have to disagree with this. At least in this case because I do believe the concept is usually right. But I don't think DK has any hate in his heart for minorities. Now if they are also religious he thinks they are delusional and an apparent threat to the atheists of the world, but I don't think it has anything to do with their skin color.

Not to press a case against DK, but racism doesn't necessarily imply hatred. Only a feeling of superiority. And that can show itself in being excessively protective of those po' lesser folk when he imagines that somebody (else, of course) views them as inferior.

Which brings us back to "hatred in his heart." If he has any for anything, I think you've put your finger on it. [:D]

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (3/31/2014 11:17:02 PM)

I have a slightly different theory. I think it's less about prejudice on race (though it's probably there to some degree), and more a prejudice against those with differing political beliefs. Some of the liberals here and elsewhere have gone out of the way to paint people more conservative than them as some form of evil boogieman, so that so many things gets filtered through that lens of prejudice. An easy example to point out, are those who, anytime someone criticizes a black leader, is quick to cry out "racism!" It doesn't matter if it's valid criticism, or that the same criticism has been levied against white leaders making the same mistakes. Because it's not "one of them" making the criticism, it just has to be because of racism. They don't need to have evidence to know it, because they already just know it.

Which is why when someone makes an accusation of racism when nothing is there, my first response is generally to question 'Where? Why is that racist?" Because who knows, maybe there was something I missed.

Usually the response is dismissive, "It's just obvious that it's racist" "You're just being an apologist for racism." Or they'll point out a mention of a black individual and claim that's it. But when never once I've seen someone actually explain where the statement shows a prejudice based on race, then it's gotta be something inventing that racism.

CobaltRose -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (3/31/2014 11:38:50 PM)

I think yes, Zimmerman overstepped bounds and was without a doubt guilty of manslaughter. But people got greedy, wanted him convicted of murder. And because of that Zimmerman walks free. Its similar to the Casey Anthony case, sure, she probably killed her daughter, but there was reasonable doubt. What was certwin was she was guilty of child endangerment, and because they triedbto convict her of the bigger crim instead of the sure thing, she walks free.

Yes, in the grander scheme of things it's much broader than racism. It's elitism. And it's all about power. The only truly unredeemable sin is disagreeing with those who shall not be contradicted. And the penalties for such transgressions know no limits, neither reason nor decency constrains them.

As bullshit goes, this tops the pile. Most people dont like racism because it is vile and obnoxious, this despite ones own race, religion or political stance.

Your implication that those speaking out on racism are white knights riding to the rescue, is as obnoxious as racism itself.

Rule -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (4/1/2014 4:23:42 AM)

In my opinion anyone who speaks out on racism, perpetuates racism and therefore is himself / herself a racist.

Except when he says that, he's not referring to people in general. Just the people who throw accusations of racism around when it's not there.

And those people are certainly as obnoxious as racism itself.

Yada yada yada....... You wouldnt recognise racists at a clan rally. The song was racist, the follow up lyrics were racist.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (4/1/2014 6:02:40 AM)

And yet you can't demonstrate a single line in it that is prejudicing blacks on the basis of their race. It's simply not there.

And yet you are unable to comprehend the meaning behind the words...... If he didnt say black it isnt racist huh, just as "Ethnic minority" as used in this context isnt racist.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (4/1/2014 6:21:33 AM)

Of course, that's a strawman, and I'm the one who has been able to explain in detail, with comparative examples, why there's no racism there, where your argument amounts to "Nuh uh, it's racist cause I say so!"

We were not discussing other people speaking out on racism. We were discussing DKs need to lie about others being racist. Do try and keep up.

Get bent moron. I have done my best to rise above the prejudices I was taught as a child and deal with all people as they come without regard to their outward appearances.

So when people doused burning crosses they were themselves perpetuating racism? You are so completely full of shit it is amazing that you don't choke to death.

Raiikun -> RE: UNMODERATED ZIMMERMAN (4/1/2014 9:29:23 AM)

If by dismissing, you mean "demonstrated factually why there was no racism inherent in that line", then yes, it got dismissed.
