- "Gang gestures" in their pictures (sorry I'm Canadian)

- More cash in their pocket than their holdings (be it bank account, gold, w.h.y.)

Whenever I see lists of exclusion like that, I think of these dudes:

- Living in one's car.
- Living in parents' basement.
- Camera is excited by their penis (or is it the other way around....)
- Pictures of their AR collection hanging on the wall behind their computer monitor.
- "Gang gestures" in their pictures
- Major grammar issues (does he 'think' in mixed tense and case?)
- More cash in their pocket than their holdings (be it bank account, gold, w.h.y.)
- Unemployed/unemployable

All of these men fit one or more of your exclusions. And all of these men are extra-ordinarily successful in their chosen fields/paths of life.

Some of them are richer than you can even imaging being, and some of them not at all. But the thing they all have in common is that they're alphas. They dominate whatever they set their mind on doing. They do that very naturally, with very little effort, and very successfully.

I have no idea how many -if any- of the are kinky, but I will tell you that if any of these men are, and would want a slave girl or two, they'd have no trouble whatsoever finding one.

Now I get your point, and most of the guys that fit your list aren't guys like these guys are, but at the same time... I would suggest you from reconsidering defining "mastery" in a man by what he shouldn't be instead of defining what he should be in order to meet that qualification.

So you are a Master and you got your slave to prove it!

Actually it is not that complicated. If one has a slave they are the Master of that slave. I.E. that is a usage of the word as a title. It has nothing to do with ability and experience. One can be the Master without being a Master. The latter denoting the learned experience and ability. Most Dominants I know will frankly admit that they may have Mastery in certain aspects of BDSM, and most certainly do not in other aspects. That seems a fair and honest answer to me.

In that sense I agree. I am Carol's master because that's what she says. There need be no other qualification. In order for any other sort of mastery to be meaningful there would need to be some sort of community and some sort of community standards which provided outside objective evidence of this state of mastery.

Not even community standards. What you'd need is the kind of objective testing you get with professional qualifications.

I dunno, this one kind of annoys me. Because I'm an accredited proofreader (by the SfEP) and that was actually bloody hard work. Sometimes I get the feeling that people are suggesting that "master" has as much meaning and it really doesn't.

What tools, skills, abilities, knowledge, character etc etc etc are pretty important to enter into Master 101 class let alone pass the class.

Humility.

So freaking underrated. W/o it,one doesn't clearly and accurately see one's limits, one won't learn, lacking it will lead to close-mindedness, arrogance (Which is fear turned inside out)and won't see/admit where they are wrong. And that's just to start...
Being right sized is hugely important. Mouse serves because she trusts me, and she trusts me because I know myself.
Let this be a lesson to all men out there-Women don't want a man who can understand them (Because really, what man can? I'm a dom,not a miracle worker)but they don't want a man who understands himself.
Oh my stars, yes
