Some time in 2014 I am thinking about opening my private fire arms range to bdsm lbgt folks by appointment .
A way to experience fire arms without the the macho vanilla baggage found at most gun ranges.
Thoughts??

Rawni -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 4:16:12 PM)

What macho vanilla baggage is found at most gun ranges?

Would this imply that people into bdsm wouldn't have any macho baggage?

Have you read some of the profiles here?

As a business, you want to serve a large clientele. By restricting it to only kinkfolk and/or LGBT that like to shoot, you're catering to a pretty small group.

The macho baggage seems to fall away pretty quick at the local gun range, when someone brings out a braked .338 Lapua. It's hard to look macho sitting in your car, with your hands over your ears.

Anyway, I live in macho central, and the public range clientele mostly falls into the categories of old guys, and the disinterested hunter/plinker. The old guys are about the only ones who will interact with you.

Thought: The liability would be a nightmare. It's all fun and games until...

Don't. (quoting LNN for truth)

Macho bullshit found at most vanilla gun ranges??? I have been to Chicago gun ranges. They seemed the same as all the other gun ranges I have been to.

TNDommeK -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 7:23:06 PM)

I shoot twice a week...no bull shit there. Just folks who like guns.

I'm jealous. I wish I could go that often. Glad to hear your range is "just folks who like guns", same here.

Ammunition is scarce here otherwise we would shoot more.

So how do you plan to keep your gun range to kink only and why would you want to. We have some very good friends that we go shooting with that are not kinky and not gay.

MasterCaneman -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 8:44:01 PM)

Pretty much every gun range will set up private sessions with appointments, so I don't see what your point is. By the way, I'm an executive officer for a local gun range, have been an active recreational shooter since I was nine, and have visited/shot at numerous ranges between New York and Nevada, and the behaviors you described are next to non-existent.

shadowborn61 -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 9:00:49 PM)

I have to agree with MasterCaneman on this one.
The ranges i go to could care less about who you have sex with as long as you abide by the posted rules and safety guidelines.
Although one indoor range gets a little touchy about black powder [8|]

FrostedFlake -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 9:32:08 PM)

Lessee now. We got macho Vanilla Baggage. Something about kink with guns AT a range. And a brand new sock.

I'm not sure which to ask about.

Probably because vaporized grease and unburnt black powder makes an unholy mess to clean up.

That and the smoke from the black powder or Pyrodex if it's an indoor range would be a problem for anyone with breathing problems Caneman.

Aynne88 -> RE: Guns (12/13/2013 10:07:50 PM)

Foolish. I go to the range almost every weekend.

kalikshama -> RE: Guns (12/14/2013 8:57:25 AM)

I'm likely to notice "macho vanilla baggage" but didn't see any of this when I last went shooting, which was in South Florida.

I really don't understand the impetus behind your proposal. Are you looking to provide a place where people can shoot while, hmm, dressed more flamboyantly than normal street attire?

I can't speak for all indoor ranges, but ours has a ventilation system that blows smoke and dust forward as part of the lead abatement. Funny thing, it isn't the lead from the bullets that's bad, it's the lead azide in the primers that's the real culprit. Last night we had a meeting and the issue came up. We permit BP on our range, as long as the shooter cleans that goop up.

They should be careful then. Hot brass is no one's friend. I had a young female friend I was teaching to shoot learn the hard way when I told her not to wear anything with cleavage.
