Yes it has disappeared. Remove their stage, remove acknowledgement and they eventually go away. Especially when you ban the nics faster than they can create them.

The hide feature and not replying is the best way to help the staff and this site. The more people disagree and do not do it, the more work it is for staff.

Thanks for being a part of CollarMe,
Gamma

The thread in question has disappeared. The mods are prejudiced against dragons. :(

MercTech -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/4/2014 4:52:23 PM)

But, isn't it tempting to call 'em an idiot when they blither.

jlf1961 -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/4/2014 5:29:00 PM)

I foresee a poster new to collarme spouting such ignorant nonsense that the mods forget the TOS and proceed to shellack the fool in such ways that are beyond our humble abilities.

Kana -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/4/2014 6:23:37 PM)

But I liked the dragon picture :-(

But what does it accomplish? That's the bottom line. If it just makes you feel better while the idiot gets even more nasty, then you're cutting off your own nose to spite your face.

anniezz338 -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/4/2014 9:07:44 PM)

I would say no. The only thing it seems to accomplish is more work for the mods. Now I have to admit it's fun to fuck with them to a certain degree because they are begging for it. Overall, not worth the effort though.

Thanks Chi!

VideoAdminGamma -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/5/2014 6:10:06 PM)

This topic had a break for a short while because we missed the use of the word "fucktard". It has been a guideline here for some time that any variation that uses "tard" in it is not allowed.

Since I felt partially to blame that the topic had gone on for a while, I contacted the OP and they agreed to allow a substitution to the word twatwaffle.

Please carry on and I apologize for my part in this inconvenience.

Gamma

Oh yeah? You're one of these.

Thank you Gamma. I know you are all super busy and stuffs, but I was going crazy trying to find this in polls and random snippets. Just sayin. [:-]

FelineRanger -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/5/2014 8:33:54 PM)

I keep trying to say "twatwaffle" and I can't do it without laughing. Hell, I can't even type it now because I'm laughing too hard. [sm=mademyday.gif]

BTW what does a twatwaffle look like? (Thank Microsoft for cut and paste!)

LadyPact -> RE: Should we be able to call a rose, a rose? (1/5/2014 11:58:51 PM)

That's kind of why I like twatwaffle, FelineRanger. It's almost like a bit of comedy relief.

The other that I like is douchecanoe. That one, I can tell you what it looks like. Ever run across a royal twit when driving down the road? Well, in Alaska, lot of folks are big on outdoor activities and often, we'll see somebody with a canoe on top of the car. Combine the two and you have a real definition of a douchecanoe.

I think about this one often. I am not talking about simple disagreements with friends and foes. I am talking about the legitimate twatwaffles out there. Of course My vote is for the letting them know they are twatwaffles and freedom of speech, but that is just My opinion.

ETA punctuation... yet again >.<

The problem that I would see with this is that there's no universally-accepted standard as to what constitutes a "twatwaffle," legitimate or otherwise. One person's "twatwaffle" might be another's "greatest human who ever lived."

If it's a matter of educating another poster (i.e. "letting them know they are [fill in the blank]"), then it's really only a matter of explaining one's position and the basis of one's opposition/disagreement with another poster's view. By calling someone a "twatwaffle" or some other name, the other person would only take that as meaning that you don't like them or what they wrote, but it doesn't explain why or what the basis of your disagreement is.

Personally, insults or harsh talk never really bothered me that much, but throwaway one-liners without any specifics or clarity can be rather pointless and offer nothing to a discussion. Jargon terms and slang might also cloud and confuse the discussion, like if someone doesn't know what a "twatwaffle" is. (Can one obtain a waffle iron which would make waffles in that particular shape?) If someone called someone else by that name, it would still be difficult to ascertain exactly what complaint is being made and what the basis of one's negative opinion might be.

Come to think of it, it is rather strange that we commonly use slang terms for genitalia as insults. It's the kind of crude stuff we would giggle at in sixth grade, but the better insults might tend to use a higher-level vocabulary and even scientific terms when appropriate. The best kind of insult is when they don't even know they're being insulted.

FR

I'm on the 'no' side here, too. I was a member of an unmoderated forum for a long while: it eventually degenerated into manure pit partly because *all* that happened on it, in the end, was offensiveness. The forum looked plain ugly; regulars started to leave and no-one replaced them except the sorts of cretins who could be offensive but nothing else. The Internet is a repository for some brilliant stuff (and we frequently see it here) but it's also a repository for the dung that people had kept a lid on in the pre-Net days.

One of my favorite insults.I use it all the time.

I agree, there is no accepted standard of what constitutes a twatwaffle or a douchcanoe, but we all know one when we see one.

I voted yes, since I've been calling people on their shit since I was two. Fortunately for the mods I have enough command of the English language I don't provide them with extra work.

Like Kana, I believe strongly that you have to call people on their shit. All it takes for evil to succeed is for a few good men to do nothing.

I *have* mellowed in my old age, I no longer follow drivers who fail to use their turn signal and accost them where they parked. Himself is grateful.
