BenevolentM -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/8/2014 6:12:46 PM)

The devil is a deceiver. He speaks in half truths and so I must agree and disagree. Though it may seem arrogant to say it, I am the only person here whose views matter. As I explained earlier the world is governed by universal constants that cannot be modified through mere wishful thinking. When trying to comprehend God we are faced with the Hall of Mirrors. The Church is our guide through the Hall of Mirrors.

If you are a Christian I recommend that you look to Rome. The Roman Catholic Church humbles me. I beg of you to heed what I have written.

The problem isn't what kind of ideology (religious or secular), the problem is ideological thinking itself - the belief that you know the truth and that your truth is infallible.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.

It is possible that God holds out no hope for any of you and I am the only one that God cares about and all of this was not about you, but about me.

Keep going BM (very apt initials, BTW) - I haven't laughed so much since "Shindler's List"!

Do you ever stop to consider what you're saying? Have you ever examined what you claim to believe? What was it someone once said about the unexamined life...?

I have given you the best advise I can give you in the absence of my wisdom. The teachings of the Church are either correct or proximately correct. If it is proximately correct, it is sufficient cause to shepard you in that direction. Either way the outcome is the same. Look to Rome.

Substantiate your fact, then: demonstrate why it's a fact rather than an opinion.

I am not obligated to do so.

Translation, you have no ability to do so.

Translation, you may think of it as a Church secret to be revealed to you at the appointed time.

I wish I could see his face when he gets to wherever he is going (heaven, hell, Hull or Halifax Nova Scotia) and finds that his god has a shittier sense of humour than anybody on here !!! The trouble with that idea is that I would have to be in the same place as he is , even if only temporarily and THAT would be my idea of hell.

Keep in mind that humanists and extreme fundimentalists have two very different ways of determining what is moral. We're going to base our decisions about right and wrong on the consequences (what's the harm; what's the benifit).

Fundies don't do that, their morality is about rule following. If god says to murder your child then murding your child is good and not murdering your child is evil. It's a morality divorced from reality, so BM may well think you're an immoral cunt all the time that you're not oppressing gays.

Whether or not any benefits obtain from a rule-following morality depends entirely on what the rules are. Following a set of rules without giving consideration to their impact on the lives of others certainly has only a very slim chance of contributing to the general happiness. But, that is hardly a criticism of rule-based moralities per se.

Rules can be improved when they are not believed to be carved in stone as "God's will." So you are casting away the baby with the bathwater here, and adopting instead a consequentialist ethic that is deeply flawed. Basing judgments about right and wrong on the consequences of actions enshrines the principle that ends justify means.

I don't think so, and neither does anyone else in their right mind.

K.

It has been revealed to you that peace is the mission. The devil is a liar. Get behind me Satan.
We speak of peace as you accuse, because understanding eludes you.
People in their right mind can very clearly see the ones who advocate violence and persecution.
We do not agree, and thus you think we are your enemy, when in fact your own self are your enemy.

Not directed at K. Those of you will know when anger wells up in you and you begin to wallow in your vile words. Also not directed to the silent ones, who also know the Truth.

When you eat your words or your own bounces back to bite you intended for us, let it be that you were for warned.

Wow. I didn't realize there were still adults who believe in the devil. Do you also believe in Thor, Odin, Santa, Jack Frost, and the Boogie Man?

I really wish humanity would grow up and grow out of childhood fairy tails.

Note your spelling of tail. It is spelled tale.

It is no mistake you spelled it that way.

IN an earlier post, I posted a scripture on the head and the tail.

Give us a fucking break. Most adults know that the devil is part of the bible and I doubt you honestly thought that everyone had stopped believing in the bible. Personally I think you were just looking for a cute way to let us know that you think the bible is a fairy tale and those who believe in it are idiots for doing so. Just not sure why you didn't have the balls to just come out and say it.

As promised to Ben I will post this prayer.

Prayer Two

Beloved, St. Bridget, the loyal follower of Our Gracious God, Who sent His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ here to save us. The Holy cry to you Lord to bring the hopeless sinners into Your Light. Ones history is not ones present, nor the present, the representation of ones future. The Angels gather to pay homage and dance in delight with Your Precious Saving Grace. Remember us in this time O Savior. Protect us from thy enemy both visible and invisible. I bow in Honor of Your magnificence and beg that we bring glory to Your Name and forgive us the wounds we inflicted upon You, for we did not know nor understand. I pray for anointed words this day. Blessed It always Be Thine Name.
Amen.

All morality requires is a little empathy.

This is not factually correct.

That is entirely correct. Sorry.
Or are you going to claim that everybody with no religion is out acting like a violently immoral cunt all the time, while nobody who believes in a God has ever stoned a woman to death or picketed a funeral?

I have already answered your question.

No you haven't.
(And that's more like a fact than any of your evasive blather above.)

What is my take on Genesis 3:15? I go along with the Church's interpretation that it is a Prophecy concerning Mary and is consistent with what Jesus said. The head is the Truth with a capital T and the foot is the truth with a lower case t. Satan attacks as the atheists do by pointing out that the Word of God is not fully consistent with the truth of this world.

Deuteronomy 28 Vs. 13 amplified

The Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail, and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.

Quoted to show the correlation with post 888.

TO further clarify I will add the Amplified version Of the Bible quote Benjamin, I mean Ben, on and on and on I mean what face? I mean well ya know what I mean, do I know what I mean? If you don't know what I mean, I suggest you investigate to know what it means.
As you learn what it means, don't be mean, I mean really.Time Warp you have now entered the containment vessel. Hold on to your hats and panty hose ladies and gentlemen.
The incredible Oz ............is that what I mean? Sure. Or DO I mean The rabbit, or the mad hatter, or ALICE! and the white rabbit is following Alice out of the hole? Or is it a dog? Well anyway the quote that's right the quote!

I am quite lucid btw. Hard to imagine isn't it? Welcome to the hall of mirrors. Who's face do you see? Speaking of that has anyone seen the face of God? I did. He was a Man.

Genesis 3 vs. 15 amplified version

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her "Offspring; He will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise His heel.
"

You need to work on your reading comprehension.

Moonhead -> RE: What good is morality anyway? (4/9/2014 11:41:46 AM)

My reading comprehension is fine.
Your refusal to provide any justification for any of your statements is the problem here: facts can be proven, opinions can't.
