And yet he made the statement I quoted, I noticed you didn't even bother to deny it. He said that civil disobedience was the only weapon they had so they used it.

I'd be careful throwing your lot in with hunter, he makes you look like Ghandi

I am like Ghandi, remember he said that if they there had been nukes available to them to use against the British they would have used them.

Please find me the quote from Ghandi that states that he would have nuked Britain.

What is wrong with your brain?

It has been over a decade since I heard it and not a thing.

Pix is being 8 again. I don't think Gandhi would want to spend 3 days in the mountains with h.

BigBearSwats -> RE: California's gun restrictions are working! (8/29/2014 7:06:51 PM)

Gun restrictions only work with those who abide by the laws. Those that do not follow the law it had no impact on because they ignore it.
Look at Chicago. .or as its now being called by some.."chiraq". Some of the strictest, if not tje most, and they have almost nightly shootings.
Not by the people who abide by the laws but by those who ignore it.
Pass a law that calls for all citizens to be disarmed and you will only disarm the law abiding.
The criminals will keep their guns. Why? They are criminals and they already break the law.

FR

Had we adopted non-violence as the weapon of the strong, because we realised that it was more effective than any other weapon, in fact the mightiest force in the world, we would have made use of its full potency and not have discarded it as soon as the fight against the British was over or we were in a position to wield conventional weapons. But as I have already said, we adopted it out of our helplessness. If we had the atom bomb, we would have used it against the British.
Speech (16 June 1947) as the official date for Indian independence approached (15 August 1947) , as quoted in Mahatma Gandhi: The Last Phase (1958) by Pyarelal Nayyar, p. 326

There is also this:
It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our breasts, than to put on the cloak of non-violence to cover impotence. Violence is any day preferable to impotence. There is hope for a violent man to become non-violent. There is no such hope for the impotent.
Non-Violence in Peace and War p. 254 (1948); also in Gandhi on Non-violence: Selected Texts from Mohandas K. Gandhi's Non-Violence in Peace and War (1965) edited by Thomas Merton; this has also appeared in paraphrased form as "if there is violence in our hearts."

Liberals put forth less wind when they have to accept facts.

If someone tries to kill someone else, the the aggressor forfeits his right to life insofar as ending his life is necessary for or a consequent of the defense of the innocent's life. Otherwise you are drowning in sea of moral relativism. Where Charles Manson has the same right to life as you.

That might be true for the US.
I'm pretty sure it's not true (legally and otherwise) elsewhere.

ETA: even the most vile, despicable, low-life, criminal has a right to life just like everyone else.

So if someone came at you with a knife and you had the choice between shooting him and letting him kill you, you would let him kill you because he has a right to life also?

BTW, hello. Things well with you?

Oh Pix....Gandhi said, "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."

He was a great man, a peaceful man, even he would probably be slightly vexed however by being quoted by a man like you.

"
Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man."

Actually, Gandhi was a man who saw to the truth. He and I would probably have had a good laugh over you.

And we have a culture that allows monsters like this to be stopped if you can.

You have a death penalty in most states - that, I wholly agree with.
I think, if we had a free choice, a lot of people would vote for it to be reinstated.

But, I don't agree with guns for general populace.
A high percentage just can't be trusted with them.
And proof of that pudding is in the stats... everywhere.

There are 3.5 million ccw holders in this country, over 100 million other legitimate gun owners. If your view of us was even remotely accurate there would be literally hundreds of thousands of killings a year. Even over there you have to know that isn't the case.

actually if there are 100 million legit gun owners if just 1% of them were as he stated "A high percentage just can't be trusted with them" then there would be 1,000,000,000 shootings per year in the USA...

not sure what he considers a HIGH percentage though....

if there were 100K shootings per year it would be .1% if there were 10K per year it would be .01% and since I THINK the REAL number is like 2k the ACTUAL percentage is like .002% and that counts ALL not just legit gun owners
