its beyond me how a grand jury can call this justifiable...and that the 911 caller hasnt been brought up on charges yet..pay close attention when the woman shopper with her 2 kids enter the isle..the caller tells the dispatcher that john crawford just pointed the gun at 2 children when it was clearly pointed at the ground..this man never had a chance........

Kirata -> RE: Ohio walmart shooting (9/25/2014 4:43:26 PM)

The 911 caller who told police that Crawford was pointing the gun at children should be strung up by his balls.

That said, the way Crawford was handling the weapon, waving it around with his right hand holding it in a firing grip would make anyone nervous. So that's one idiot point. And then he ran, which earns him a second one.

It looks like the cop fired when Crawford doubled back toward the gun. But in that officer's mind, this was a guy pointing a rifle at children, and who ran when confronted. I don't know if I'd risk it either. Which takes us back to the piece of shit who lied to 911.

One of the newspapers makes a point about the weapon being just a BB gun, calling it a "toy." But that's bullshit. Point that fucking thing at my cat, let alone my kids, and if I even remotely think you might use it, you're shot.

oh i agree the 911 caller needs to be strung up...its beyond me why thee hasnt been any charges brought against him...heres a complete video from the time john crawford enters the store....at the 8:48 in the clip is where he picks up the gun from the shelve..at no time in the video does he point the gun at anyone or cause alarm in anyone else in the store...even walks by 2 sales associates..yes i agree he was handling in a careless manner..but not a threatening manner..and never waved it in the direction of people....watch the first clip again.. youll hear the officer yell on the ground followed immediately by 2 gunshots.....if your able to put yourself in his mind...here you are a shopper who just picked up a bb gun off the shelf walking around minding your own business talking on your phone with no one around you and all of a sudden someone yells police drop it...your probably going to have a wtf moment...in complete shock...this officer never gave him a chance to comply.. he never moved in a threatening manner...

Even if it had been a real gun Crawford wasn't breaking any law since Ohio has open carry. The 911 caller and all the cops should go to jail.

FR
Ironically this past week I bought a Ruger 10/22.
I was kidding the salesperson and asked if I could just leave the box there and carry the rifle out of the store.
He played along and said it was my gun I could do what I wanted.
Then I got real with him and pointed out that carrying a rifle around on the parking lot might not be wise and no point in disturbing people for no reason.
Even if it is legal to carry open in Ohio what is legal and what is wise are not automatically the same thing.
I believe that making a false report to the police is illegal in most states so the person who file the false 911 call should be in trouble.

If you're white, it probably would have been ok. It's not Whitey season yet.

Are you really arguing that it wouldn't have been ok for this man to be carrying a legal firearm?

I understood that it was a pellet rifle, not a bb gun (my sons is both) many pellet rifles can be pumped up to have a muzzle energy equal to a .22. A pure bb gun would not be likely to be mistaken for a "real" gun but many pellet rifles can be.
That doesn't make this any less of a tragedy but it must be remembered that the cop didn't show because of a report that someone was carrying a gun but that he was threatening people. Totally different situation. The fact that the 911 call was a false report does not alter the situation the cop thought he was in.

Did you watch the fucking video? They shot him before he had a chance to comply. Also in a store full of people exactly one person had panicked about Crawford and called 911. Not store management. When the police arrived they didn't contact store management or security and they should have noticed that absolutely no one seemed concerned except the one guy.

I do find your change of tune on guns amusing as hell though. Melanin content counts for a lot in your opinion I guess.

Real0ne -> RE: Ohio walmart shooting (9/26/2014 3:35:21 AM)

I heard everything else but I didnt hear a gunshot.
Shall we guess when he was shot?

Actually they shot him before he had a change to shoot the kid they thought he was aiming at. As far as they knew he had just loaded the gun and was getting ready to use it. Of course this was all based on the lies of some asshat but I notice he was the only one you didn't mention when you were listing who you thought should be charged.

Oh and Bama didn't change his views on anything. He merely pointed out it would be stupid to walk out into the parking lot carrying a gun and he is right, it would be.

Crawford wasn't breaking any law since Ohio has open carry.

Open carry simply means that the weapon you have on your person is unconcealed, not that it's in your hands. Once you draw a holstered handgun or un-sling a rifle and start waving it around you are brandishing. As a matter of best practice, you should not even have your hands on it.

One might hope he could aspire to better judgment.

To bad you can't read. Carrying is one thing, waving around is something else.

Still can't read I see. The person at fault was the one who turned in the false report. I said that carrying like he did was unwise, I never said he was in the wrong. His killing was a travesty brought on by a false report to the police who arrived and based their actions on false information. You clearly missed the part were I said that I didn't carry a new gun out of the box to avoid distress to others, guess that I have the right amount of melanin to make that unwise (I am of mostly German descent).
