You're the one spouting the ridiculous shit, sunshine:

As I already said -- you notice a lot of posts to you have to start that way? -- I'm glad they're acknowledging the flaw.

Go back and check, that is exactly what I was saying, and I was right.

Which is why I ridiculed the notion of technically having a recall, but not actually letting people know about it. Not exactly a recall.

They're doing something. I suppose that's all we can hope for in such a homogenous industry block.

How do you know they aren't letting people know about it?
No proof, not even and indication, just they way you want to think about them. Since you have been wrong every time so far I don't think I will put a lot of faith in this proclamation.

You get sillier with every post.

First, you claim that they're being careful not to publicize it.
Then, you go with "How do you know they aren't letting people know about it?" in the very next post.

Do you not see how ridiculous you look? That you simply twist into whatever tiny hair-split you can think of, contradicting yourself along the way?

Not to mention continually bring up points that have already been settled and beaten to death and then settled and beaten to death again.

So--there's a YouTube video. That's certainly a public post. It's hardly a recall, as it calls for self-inspection, but it's something.

You should learn how to research and pull up evidence like this. It would help you look less ridiculous.

And you could really use some of that, frankly.

Look I am familiar with this unethical method of debate.
You have, as is your habit, taken something I said about one thing and pretended that I said it about something else.
To straighten you out, yet again (you notice how often I have to use this phrase)
A I said working on the fixed wasn't being publicized.
B Later I said that you don't know that the fix isn't being publicized, you know about the video and there is no reason for them to contact you personally to let you know about it. It is standard practice to send a letter to the customer concerning a recall.
Just as you "knew" they wouldn't fix it you now "know" they won't tell the customers about it even though not informing them of the fix would lead to more (civil) legal problems than not fixing it, see both Ford (pinto) and GM (silverado)

You're just making shit up.

Show me where I "knew" they wouldn't fix it. Show me where I "know" they won't tell customers -- there's a fucking YouTube video!

It's hardly, though, a Pinto/GM type recall.

Unethical? It's what you're saying. Unethical seems to mean to you "disagrees with my contradictions."

Well, you were wrong, as lovmuffin demonstrated with the YouTube video.

I don't know whether you're aware -- YouTube is pretty public. Maybe you've heard of it.

You ranted about they weren't going to fix it.
Do you know the difference between while it is being fixed and after it is fixed? If you did you would know that I am right.
You are trying to have it both ways, on this page you said they weren't publicizing the fix now you say they are.
I said they weren't publicizing working on the fix but now they are publicizing the fact that they have one, no contradiction there.
You are still taking my statement out of context and pretending that I said it about a different thing than I did. The first time there was a remote chance it was just a mistake, now it constitutes an outright lie. It is bad enough to lie about me, but to lie about me to me is just stupid.
That's it good-bye.

Back attacha, dipshit.

You can't show me where because that's not what I said -- it's you twisting things around, as usual.

And you've modified your stance quite a bit from what you originally said, trying to pretend you didn't, calling others stupid for pointing out the stupidity you changed, and frankly, being far nicer about than your "every post needs an insult" philosophy.

You many be the most self-deranged person I know. If this is goodbye, thank God!

Other than contacting the registered owners, how would have them conduct a recall? That the news media is not cooing to cover it, like they did with the pinto is rather meaningless.

Here's the thing -- you want to make claims, burden of proof is on you.

And you finally pulled up one bit of evidence, and I'm glad you did. I'm glad S&W is doing at least something.

I'm glad too but I point out yet again, I was not making any claims, you were. I was simply saying I didn't know anything about that particular gun or its defect, and quibbling with the notion that somehow the NRA was less than diligent with safety issues overall, just because of that gun. Though now that I think about it I'll take half the blame for not doing a little more research myself to clear up the issue.

I will also mention that I shouldn't be saying you watered down your position as if it's a negative thing. To your credit you modified your position on gun safeties to just dealing with the safety issue on that one particular gun.

And before we get naked and sing Kume-Bye-Ya, in regard to smart guns which we touched on here just a bit, in principle you are right. It doesn't mean the NRA is anti market or anti Second Anendment or whatever. But that new guy on the other thread, oldncreepy, is correct. What a freakin mess that would be for manufacturers and consumers should one of those things come out on the market in one of those states.

If you recall the D C sniper they knew which store he had bought his rifle from before they caught him.
It would seem that S&W would just contact the dealers to find out who had bought them and contact all of those people about the recall. I wouldn't expect the press to cover the fact that a gun company is fixing a problem, they would much rather talk about them making one.
