I wonder what a law to make attractive people more equal to ugly people would look like, with a rider penalizing people for being young

Obamacare already penalizes health, so thats done

...by bringing others up to healthy lives.

He's evil, that man.

I didnt write Obama, I wrote Obamacare. Try to pay attention

And no, Obamacare literally "redistributes" money from the healthy to the unhealthy

Work out, eat right, take proper care of yourself and pay the way for those who dont

You have no idea what you're talking about. Under president Bush the #1 cause of bankruptcy by FARRRRRR was an illness and most of those people had "health insurance". You can do all of those things and still get cancer or some other illness.

Look who is finally understanding what insurance is and how it works.

Along with the benefits of ensuring people get proper preventative care.

Oh, and I do pay attention -- you renamed the ACA "Obamacare"...repeating the anti-Obama talking point.

You've been a parrot so long, you don't even notice yourself doing it.

Sanity -> RE: We are all equal, but some of us are more equal... (2/6/2015 9:00:37 AM)

Everyone calls it Obamacare, dunce

And no, insurance has never been about penalizing those who are dilligant about things

That's purely a leftist thing

Musicmystery -> RE: We are all equal, but some of us are more equal... (2/6/2015 9:15:31 AM)

1) Totally a Republican talking point. Learn something about the party you're carrying water for.

2) That's entirely what insurance has always been about. You, being perpetually a negative person, express it backwards, but essentially, yep--those without auto accidents pay for those who have them, those who don't have house fires pay for those who have them, those who don't suffer poor health pay for those who do.

3) Insurance actually helps those who would like to be diligent pay the costs to prevent the expensive consequences tax-payers would end up paying for.

Ask any insurance agent. They'll 'splain it to you.

If he's been banned from other airlines then he obviously hasn't learned anything at all from that step. Next step is serving time in prison. I for one see no reason as to why he should see the light of day from outside a prison wall until 2020. It's not like he'll be missing a lot on the inside that he can't make up later. After all he's most likely going to be working for the family business.

Did/do you feel the same about Naomi Campbell?

I didn't say he should get the full twenty years, but a healthy dose of time about a quarter of the maximum is possibly the best of both worlds. And yes I think all of the "better than you because I'm rich/a star" crowd deserve the same treatment.

5 years for being a bully seems a bit harsh. I Naomi Campbell threw things and spit on people, which is assault and battery.

How about we stop making it illegal to defend against bullies?

Nope

Have it your a your way though

I personally named Obamacare Obamacre

And all of your DUI ticks have always jacked up your neighbors insurance rate because that's how insurance has always worked

You are a fool and I won't argue this any further

Five years for violating federal laws about not interfering with the crew during the flight of an airplane seems pretty fucking lenient to me.

No, you didn't name it -- you parroted the name. It was coined in March 2007 by lobbyist Jeanne Schulte Scott in her analysis of the 2008 presidential campaign in the trade magazine Healthcare Financial Management. It was revived as derogatory shorthand for the Affordable Care Act when it was passed in March 2010.

And yes, exactly -- DUIs do jack up insurance, which is why insurers jack up rates for those convicted. And for accident prone drivers. That's how insurance works.

You are a fool who doesn't even know what he's saying.

All insurance that can work that way...works that way. It is a transfer of risk. Those having less risk pay a smaller premium, those with greater risk pay a higher premium.

Before the ACA, the elderly and infirm were priced out of the market...too much risk to satisfy investor greed. It IS that simple.

Now they can't but still, the ACA...is a windfall for the health care insurance investor due to the healthy transferring a risk so low purchasers had no intention of doing so...until they did so when there was an emergency...to other premium payers.

Presumably those like Sanity would not buy health care insurance at all and transfer his health care risk to others such as those who did have health care insurance. A 'redistribution' to him but only in an emergency.

The only time [it] doesn't work that way is the actuarial inability to accurately...assess risk, which is extremely rare but then becomes a blended or averaged risk.

I think that the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US has been health care costs for the better part of 60-70 years or maybe even more. I think 2012 it was 62% of all bankruptcies.
