Ranger Smith wasn't such a bad guy, but he just didn't want Yogi to go around stealing picnic baskets. Even Boo-Boo tried to dissuade Yogi from doing that, but Yogi would hear none of that. The Ranger couldn't do that much to Yogi, and Yogi felt protected because he was "government property." (I never could understand what that meant when I saw it as a kid.) I also remember the special they did with all the Hanna-Barbara characters, with Yogi in command of a giant flying "ark" and searching for the "perfect place," since Jellystone Park was getting too crowded and polluted. It was an interesting mode of transportation. It was powered by Magilla Gorilla chasing a bunch of bananas while running on a treadmill which powered the giant helicopter blades which allowed them to travel wherever they wanted. In the end, they finally realized that there was no "perfect place."
