MuscleBoundDom -> Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 6:57:01 PM)

Please don't take this post the wrong way. I'm just looking for answers. I've had a profile on this site and I think it's wonderful. I enjoyed the forums and I learned about the clubs. I actually met someone on this site and we tried to make it work out.

Everyone has preferences but I can't seem to find one who has the same as mine. Every female submissive I've met at the BDSM clubs and munches are very overweight and not healthy. The few I know won't go to the gym no matter how hard I try to get them to go.

No matter how much I preach to them the importance of eating healthy and daily exercise they won't do it. Intellectually they know it's good but emotionally they don't do it. When I mention they should see a therapist they yell and scream and tell me where to go.

Why aren't they health conscious?

Greta75 -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 7:13:22 PM)

If you like slim and fit subs, then you really need to keep looking for those types.

All those women are happy and content with their bodies and they do not need you to tell them they are any less than perfect.

While you don't appreciate their bodies, another dominant will.

You tell them to see a therapist because they don't want to go to the gym?

I'd stop the "preaching" and go for someone that you don't feel you have to change.

I also find it hard to believe that everyone you've met in the community is "very overweight and unhealthy". But, if that's what you're seeing, then broaden your search.

OsideGirl -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 7:35:06 PM)

Well, I'm about to say a bunch of things you won't like.

We as a society have had the concept of the low fat, thermogenic diet rammed down our throats until we've Stockholm Syndromed and started parroting back. The cholesterol and fat myth was based on a lie because a scientist wanted his name known. When a politician wanted the low fat diet pushed in the 60's he refused to listen to doctors who said it wasn't right...he kept looking until he found one that would agree with him. Thus replacing the "reduced carb" concept that had been around for centuries (there is a medical book that mentions reducing starch intake in the early 1800s)

We now have a society that has a carb addiction and metabolic issues. On top of that, the official rates say that at least 10% of the female population, like me, has PCOS which brings with it endocrinic issues. These respond to the reduced carb way but in some twist of pop culture, low carb got labeled as a "fad diet" when in fact the thermogenic/low fat diet is the younger of the two.

I was lucky, when I was 20 or so and allowing Susan Powter to kill me...I found a doctor against the low fat diet. He introduced me to reduced carb lifestyle and it changed my life.

The reality is that if you have metabolic syndrome whether induced by the government's skewed concept of a diet or it comes from medical reasons......the gym isn't going to help. Until you've had a weight problem that is unresponsive to the thermogenic/low fat diet...you have no idea what it's like to deal with the people that tell you to "just eat less and exercise". You have no idea what it's like to be viewed as a failure because you haven't managed to lose weight, even though the diet set you up to fail.

So, yeah.....you preaching at them won't do anything except cause a rift and make them feel crappy.

If you really want to be helpful - suggest they see a doctor for blood tests to see if they have thyroid problems, PCOS or insulin resistance. Hook them up with someone that understands what they're going through.

And I'll close with....I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a plastic spoon than go to the gym. I'd rather spend those hours out on the motorcycle doing something that I find fun.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 10:04:33 PM)

His profile is funny; it says little except "if you drink soda I don't even want to know you".
I guess it's good for a man to draw his line in the sand [:D]

OsideGirl -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 10:25:11 PM)

I stopped drinking soda about 6 months ago. I figured out that I'm actually craving the fizz and started drinking carbonated water. Regardless, I have little patience for someone who hasn't walked a mile in my shoes telling me what it takes.

I'll also add that the need to spend hours in the gym has it's own set of psychological issues.

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 10:40:09 PM)

Did they ask for your advice and/or guidance? Did you own them or were they just random women you met at your local munch groups?

[sm=modxiiswatching.gif] I...got banned from one of our groups in Charleston from telling some nosy parkers to mind their own business.

@OsideGirl
Wow, thanks for posting that. I did Stop The Insanity too for 3 straight years and destroyed my metabolism. Exercising 3-4 hours per day and eating zero fat (I didn't even eat egg yellows) made me pack on the fat. It didn't matter that I kept a food diary and stayed at or below 2,000 calories.

His gonna hate my dad! His a lean 6ft 168lbs. Skinny even. Only drinks Pepsi and Coffee with sugar and milk. Eats a whole tub of Ben and Jerrys almost every night. Loves deep fried everything and pizza.
In his 60's, zero exercise, never ever was overweight a day in his life.
On top of that, snacks in between meals alot. With potato chips and cookies.

Even I am jealous of my dad! Lol!

Bunnicula -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/24/2015 10:56:57 PM)

I dated a gym bunny once.

If he'd spent as much time on his personality and social skills as he did on his abs we might still be together.

I think only now are we starting to see the "authorities" acknowledge how much damage the low fat movement has done to society.

This movie has some great information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqn-Xe_2iCw

Or they are not happy and content with their bodies, and they do not need someone adding to that.

People don't generally get fit and healthy because someone else badgered them to. And if they somehow did they would probably move on to someone else as soon as they felt happy with themselves... So there is really no upside to the OP's approach, IMHO.

Not to mention that low fat products taste like crap, so they add sugar to compensate. I never buy low fat anything.

Its because most people don't want to be ripped like you. Or spending the kind of money you did/do to look the way you do.
Or spend time relating to a weight machine more than other human beings. I say the last sentence because if youre going to talk to people in that way (basically you saying "you need to see a shrink because you DONT want to look like Me.") then dude, you aren't relating to that person any better than if they were a weight machine.

I suspect youre complaining because you cant find subs that meet what Im hearing are your narrow standards. I'll let you in on a little secret, the subs youre looking for get snapped up by Doms/Masters who have IMO, "personality" AND money to go with the brawn. and usually those subs don't last a week here.
So maybe you need to spend less time at the gym, and more time looking for a sub.

so to sum up....
1.) quit thinking every one should want to look like you.
2.) quit with the preaching. even if you goaded them into it, if they aren't personally motivated to do it for their own reasons, they will not get the results you're in their ear about
3.) Go to a shrink yourself and learn how to be a relatable, approachable, empathetic man who just happens to be a Dom. (how ya feeling about being told that? hmmmm?)

I don't know anybody that is "happy" to be fat. I know people that have reached acceptance. I don't know a single obese person that wouldn't be thin if given the opportunity. The problem is that how society thinks you should lose weight rarely works. It gets tiresome failing over and over again. Being told that it must be that you don't want it bad enough, lack inner strength etc.

So, you've nailed it right on the head. Having someone that has never had their problem "preach" at them is just kicking them and reinforcing all the negativity.

UllrsIshtar -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/25/2015 1:56:04 PM)

I'm curious:

Why are you looking for healthy submissives, when you yourself obviously maintain an unhealthily low fat percentage?

Seems a little hypocritical don't ya think?

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/25/2015 2:42:22 PM)

He lives in LA. I think body dysmorphia is mandatory there.

Not even Canada Dry Black Cherry Wishniak?
That's just wrong.

HumbledByYoo -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/25/2015 5:54:19 PM)

I've also made the observation that the majority of people (not just women, not just subs) in this lifestyle are overweight.

It never occurred to me to try to change any of them.

It makes me appreciate those who do have gym bods. It's hard work...I can see why people resist a healthy lifestyle change if they have led a sedentary life.

UllrsIshtar -> RE: Healthy Submissives (9/25/2015 6:30:25 PM)

I just realized we all replied wrong.

After all, he did say:

And I think that pretty much everybody on this thread did take his post the wrong way.

To the OP: you really can't negate people taking stuff the wrong way, if you're going to start off by deliberately starting off with a holier than thou attitude...
