The 'other people are polluting, I want to also' atttude is only adding to the problem.

Thanks for offering to give up your car. It does make sense to get rid of your attitude I assure you as you are probably damaging other people's lungs more than your own.

Non-smokers on this thread have not denied that we have a problem with pollution due to cars; we are not fighting to remove government levels of how much pollution is  acceptable; we are not fighting the research of safer alternatives; we do not deny that teflon could be harmful to others,  etc.  Why is it that non-smokers can't recognize a problem  that (we as human beings) are causing and seek ways to decrease this harm to our environment and the people in it.  Why are smokers so quick to deny that second hand smoke  either does not cause harm to others, or to think it's okay for them to directly harm someone else with their smoke?

I look forward to a day when we all have access and can afford safe, non-polluting vehicles... I will not fight for my right to be one of the few who insists on pollution for pollution's sake and demand being able to purchase the vehicle that pollutes the most, when there is a simple, available solution.

Wait...  I think I see the light....  Smokers can smoke outside and inside.... and that's okay, but I can only operate my polluting car outside (where the government regulates how much I can pollute).  I need to find myself a smokers attitude and fight for my right to not only run my car outside, but inside as well... where I can share the glory of harming oher people  indoors too.  I guess it's to hell with others' silly, petty rights to breathe clean air inside publicly, and the ridiclous notion of attemptng to discover ways to reduce pollution everywhere (indoors and out).  Wow,  the future looks so much brighter now. <rolls eyes>

Non-smokers are just social fascists who don't want people to smoke anywhere. No one has denied your rights to smoke free establishments but people like you want all establishments to be smoke free whether you frequent them or not.

Your intolerance is your problem, not mine. Excuse me while I light up.
